    You are of the form of pure sattva, free from anger and violence; because of that, the sage was not cursed—because you abandoned him.

    meaning

    I have worshipped you, O virtuous one, as if you were my own mother, just as Aditi; you are compassion in the form of a sister and forgiveness in the form of a mother.

    O goddess, you have protected my life, my sons and my wife; I worship you, my reverence grows, and my love increases.

    Though you are ever worthy of worship in this world, O mother of the universe, I increase your worship again and again.

    Their sons and grandsons will increase and their wealth will grow; they will be famous and glorious, full of learning and endowed with virtues.

    Those who will not worship you out of ignorance and who speak disparagingly of you—they will be devoid of Lakshmi and will always face the fear of snakes.

    You are the Lakshmi of heaven in the celestial realm, and in Vaikuntha you are the art-form of Kamala; the divine sage Jaratkaru is the portion of Narayana.

    O Goddess Manasa, you are capable through your own mind, you are the perfected yogini in your own self—therefore you, called Manasadevi, are worshipped and saluted.

    Whoever worships her and then recites this stotra, which is the seed of merit—for him and for his lineage there will be no fear of serpents.

    Poison will become equal to nectar when he recites the perfected stotra; by the recitation of five lakh times the stotra becomes perfected for a man; even one sleeping among serpents will be safe.
