Shiva speaks: 'I have declared this great mantra, supreme among all mantras, by attaining which I myself have reached the highest state of divine sovereignty.'

Dhyana instruction: At midnight, with hair loose, naked, concentrated in Shakti, one should mentally visualize Kali being moved by Mahakala (the great Time).

One should then recite this thousand-name stotra, the means to liberation. Kalika, pleased, shows motherly compassion to that person as if to her own child.

Dhyana (visualization): Meditate on Kali as one who is mounted on a corpse, supremely terrifying, with fierce fangs and a laughing face, four-armed, holding a sword, severed head, granting boons and fearlessness, wearing a garland of skulls, with tongue rolling out, naked, dwelling in the cremation ground.
