Bow to Govinda, the Supreme Bliss—He whose open mouth revealed the fourteen worlds and the transcendent realm beyond, whom Yashoda struck in childhood terror (calling Him "butter-thief"), the pillar-root supporting the three worlds, the Lord of worlds, the Supreme Lord.

Bow to Govinda, the supreme bliss, who divides yet unites the circle of gopis, whose glory is eternally adorned by the dust raised from the hooves of cows, who holds the bliss grasped by faith and devotion—inconceivable yet contemplated by the virtuous, possessing the majesty of the wish-fulfilling gem.

The bathing-women, clutching garments, mounted upon the chariot at the riverbank, pulling toward him to offer sky-cloth; bow to Govinda, the Buddha free from dual sorrow and delusion, dwelling within the Buddha, whose body is pure existence alone, the supreme bliss.

Bow to Govinda, supreme bliss—the beautiful cause of causes, beginningless origin, radiant as a mass of time, dancing exquisitely upon Kalindi's waters on slain Kaliya's head, transcendent beyond time itself, destroyer of all Kali's sins, and the mover of the three temporal cycles.

Bow to Govinda, supreme bliss, worshipped in Brindavan by hosts of cowherds, whose lotus-face showers gentle nectar-smile, whose lotus-feet are revered in the hearts of all great sages, an ocean of endless virtues through Nanda's line.

Whoever recites this Govinda Ashtakam with mind offered to Govinda—calling upon Govinda, Achyuta, Madhava, Vishnu, Gokula's Lord, Krishna—is washed clean of all sin by the nectar-water of meditation on Govinda's lotus feet, and dwells within him as the supreme bliss-nectar that is Govinda.
