Durga has many forms and many names; she is the eternal one. She is the consort of the eternal Shiva — abandon now the delusion of thinking her merely your daughter.

Dhyana (meditation verse): Visualize Durga, dark as a rain cloud, her glance striking fear into hosts of enemies, with the crescent moon on her crown; holding conch, discus, sword, and trident in her hands, three-eyed, riding the shoulders of a lion, filling all three worlds with her radiance — she is called Jaya (Victory), surrounded by the gods, worshipped by those who seek liberation.
