    ajñātvā kavachaṃ dēvi durgāmantraṃ cha yō japēt ।na chāpnōti phalaṃ tasya paraṃ cha narakaṃ vrajēt ॥ 2 ॥

    'One who recites the Durga mantra without knowing this kavacham, O Goddess — he does not attain the fruit and goes instead to great hell.'
