- verse 1सैरन्ध्र्यास्तदनु चिरं स्मरातुरायायातोऽभूः सुललितमुद्धवेन सार्धम् ।आवासं त्वदुपगमोत्सवं सदैवध्यायन्त्याः प्रतिदिनवाससज्जिकायाः ॥1॥sairandhryāstadanu chiraṃ smarāturāyāyātō'bhūḥ sulalitamuddhavēna sārdham ।āvāsaṃ tvadupagamōtsavaṃ sadaivadhyāyantyāḥ pratidinavāsasajjikāyāḥ ॥1॥meaning
After Kubja, long afflicted with desire for you, awaiting your coming daily with her home always prepared and longing for your return, you went there with the gracious Uddhava.

When asked for a boon, that poor woman chose only union with you again during future nights; only a wise man would ask for liberation — she did not even ask for nearness forever.

When the Bhoja king, your great ally, was being besieged with unending furious wrath by Jarasandha, the friendless ones sent a messenger to you their sole refuge, asking only for Jarasandha's destruction.

Though vanquished with his heart wounded, he was incited again by allied kings and fought you in this manner sixteen times; O Vishnu, you destroyed his akshauhinis — how many exactly!

Then as you emerged from the city on foot wearing your flower-garland, the Yavana king, lacking the merit to slay you, chased you as if surprised — you led him to a mountain cave.
