    ददृशिरे किल तत्क्षणमक्षत-स्तनितजृम्भितकम्पितदिक्तटाः ।सुषमया भवदङ्गतुलां गताव्रजपदोपरि वारिधरास्त्वया ॥1॥
    dadṛśirē kila tatkṣaṇamakṣata-stanitajṛmbhitakampitadiktaṭāḥ ।suṣamayā bhavadaṅgatulāṃ gatāvrajapadōpari vāridharāstvayā ॥1॥

    विपुलकरकमिश्रैस्तोयधारानिपातै-र्दिशिदिशि पशुपानां मण्डले दण्ड्यमाने ।कुपितहरिकृतान्नः पाहि पाहीति तेषांवचनमजित श्रृण्वन् मा बिभीतेत्यभाणीः ॥2॥

    With torrents of large hailstones raining down in all directions, as the cowherds were being punished by the angry Indra's forces — O unconquered one, hearing their cries of 'Save us, save us,' you said: 'Do not fear.'

    कुल इह खलु गोत्रो दैवतं गोत्रशत्रो-र्विहतिमिह स रुन्ध्यात् को नु वः संशयोऽस्मिन् ।इति सहसितवादी देव गोवर्द्धनाद्रिंत्वरितमुदमुमूलो मूलतो बालदोर्भ्याम् ॥3॥
    kula iha khalu gōtrō daivataṃ gōtraśatrō-rvihatimiha sa rundhyāt kō nu vaḥ saṃśayō'smin ।iti sahasitavādī dēva gōvarddhanādriṃtvaritamudamumūlō mūlatō bāladōrbhyām ॥3॥
    meaning

    Our clan's deity here is certainly Govardhana, the enemy of the thunderbolt-bearer — who shall prevent his wrath? In what doubt are you? — saying this with a laugh, O God, you instantly uprooted Govardhana from its roots with child-arms.

    तदनु गिरिवरस्य प्रोद्धृतस्यास्य तावत्सिकतिलमृदुदेशे दूरतो वारितापे ।परिकरपरिमिश्रान् धेनुगोपानधस्ता-दुपनिदधदधत्था हस्तपद्मेन शैलम् ॥4॥
    tadanu girivarasya prōddhṛtasyāsya tāvatsikatilamṛdudēśē dūratō vāritāpē ।parikaraparimiśrān dhēnugōpānadhastā-dupanidadhadadhatthā hastapadmēna śailam ॥4॥
    meaning

    Then after lifting the great mountain, in the soft sandy cool spot — the heat kept away far — you sheltered the gathered cowherds and cattle below, holding the mountain-peak with your lotus hand.

    भवति विधृतशैले बालिकाभिर्वयस्यै-रपि विहितविलासं केलिलापादिलोले ।सविधमिलितधेनूरेकहस्तेन कण्डू-यति सति पशुपालास्तोषमैषन्त सर्वे ॥5॥
    bhavati vidhṛtaśailē bālikābhirvayasyai-rapi vihitavilāsaṃ kēlilāpādilōlē ।savidhamilitadhēnūrēkahastēna kaṇḍū-yati sati paśupālāstōṣamaiṣanta sarvē ॥5॥
    meaning

    While you thus held the mountain, even the young cowherd girls and friends engaged in playful sport nearby; you scratched the itching of the cows gathered close with one free hand — at this sight all the cowherds felt great joy.

    अतिमहान् गिरिरेष तु वामकेकरसरोरुहि तं धरते चिरम् ।किमिदमद्भुतमद्रिबलं न्वितित्वदवलोकिभिराकथि गोपकैः ॥6॥
    atimahān girirēṣa tu vāmakēkarasarōruhi taṃ dharatē chiram ।kimidamadbhutamadribalaṃ nvititvadavalōkibhirākathi gōpakaiḥ ॥6॥
    meaning

    This mountain is immense — yet you hold it on the left hand-lotus for so long; what wonder is this — is it the mountain's lightness? — so the cowherds spoke among themselves, gazing at you.

    अहह धार्ष्ट्यममुष्य वटोर्गिरिंव्यथितबाहुरसाववरोपयेत् ।इति हरिस्त्वयि बद्धविगर्हणोदिवससप्तकमुग्रमवर्षयत् ॥7॥
    ahaha dhārṣṭyamamuṣya vaṭōrgiriṃvyathitabāhurasāvavarōpayēt ।iti haristvayi baddhavigarhaṇōdivasasaptakamugramavarṣayat ॥7॥
    meaning

    Alas, the impudence of this boy — may the afflicted Indra lower it! — with such reproach fixed against you, O Lord, Indra rained fiercely for seven days.

    अचलति त्वयि देव पदात् पदंगलितसर्वजले च घनोत्करे ।अपहृते मरुता मरुतां पति-स्त्वदभिशङ्कितधीः समुपाद्रवत् ॥8॥
    achalati tvayi dēva padāt padaṃgalitasarvajalē cha ghanōtkarē ।apahṛtē marutā marutāṃ pati-stvadabhiśaṅkitadhīḥ samupādravat ॥8॥
    meaning

    While you, O God, did not move even one step from where you stood, and all the rain-clouds' water had spent itself and the wind carried the clouds away — Indra, his mind suspicious of you, came running.

    शममुपेयुषि वर्षभरे तदापशुपधेनुकुले च विनिर्गते ।भुवि विभो समुपाहितभूधरःप्रमुदितैः पशुपैः परिरेभिषे ॥9॥
    śamamupēyuṣi varṣabharē tadāpaśupadhēnukulē cha vinirgatē ।bhuvi vibhō samupāhitabhūdharaḥpramuditaiḥ paśupaiḥ parirēbhiṣē ॥9॥
    meaning

    When the storm of rain had subsided and then the herds of cows and cowherds came out — O all-pervading Lord, placing the mountain back on the earth, you were embraced by the joyful cowherds.

    धरणिमेव पुरा धृतवानसिक्षितिधरोद्धरणे तव कः श्रमः ।इति नुतस्त्रिदशैः कमलापतेगुरुपुरालय पालय मां गदात् ॥10॥
    dharaṇimēva purā dhṛtavānasikṣitidharōddharaṇē tava kaḥ śramaḥ ।iti nutastridaśaiḥ kamalāpatēgurupurālaya pālaya māṃ gadāt ॥10॥
