When you depart, the doe-eyed ones become bereft of sight, their minds absorbed in you; hearing your flute's sound from afar, they delight in tales of your playful exploits.

The sky-moving nymphs, fearless in beholding Your form and ornaments, together with the birds, beasts, and animals in the forest devoted to Your feet, declare it blessed, blessed indeed.

When shall I drink the nectar of those lips, the remnant of the flute-taste savored once, kept far away alas by cruel fate—the gopis cry out in distress again and again.

Each day, by Your grace born from the heart-wombs of women bound in helpless attachment to You, O Lord, they perpetually fill here the void of their purpose.

Attachment is born from nature itself; the means to liberation may come through effort or may not; of these two, I have gained one—fortune, fortune, protect me, O Lord of the Wind.
