- verse 1रुचिरकम्पितकुण्डलमण्डलः सुचिरमीश ननर्तिथ पन्नगे ।अमरताडितदुन्दुभिसुन्दरं वियति गायति दैवतयौवते ॥1॥ruchirakampitakuṇḍalamaṇḍalaḥ suchiramīśa nanartitha pannagē ।amaratāḍitadundubhisundaraṃ viyati gāyati daivatayauvatē ॥1॥meaning
With charming earring-circles trembling, you danced for long, O lord, on the serpent (Kaliya); the immortals struck the dundubhi, gandharvas sang in the sky, while in heaven the divine youthful ones stood watching.

Whichever head of his bowed, you cast that aside, choosing the still uplifted one; crushing them with your lotus-foot, you sported long with the charming hand-claps.

When his many hoods were broken and bent down by you, in the water flowing with his streaming blood — the serpent-king grew faint, and his women bowed at your feet, O Madhava.

Already, dear lord, of old, those women whose hearts had long melted in your splendour heard of you and praised you with hymns by paths even sages cannot reach, Lord, unrestrained.

Looking on the devotion of the serpent-women, your heart breaking with compassion, you spared the life of the serpent-king, O Achyuta — body offered up to you, he bowed.
- verse 6रमणकं व्रज वारिधिमध्यगं फणिरिपुर्न करोति विरोधिताम् ।इति भवद्वचनान्यतिमानयन् फणिपतिर्निरगादुरगैः समम् ॥6॥ramaṇakaṃ vraja vāridhimadhyagaṃ phaṇiripurna karōti virōdhitām ।iti bhavadvachanānyatimānayan phaṇipatirniragāduragaiḥ samam ॥6॥meaning
'Go to Ramanaka in the midst of the sea — the serpent-foe (Garuda) shall not show enmity' — taking your words with greatest honour, the serpent-king departed with his serpents.
- verse 7फणिवधूजनदत्तमणिव्रजज्वलितहारदुकूलविभूषितः ।तटगतैः प्रमदाश्रुविमिश्रितैः समगथाः स्वजनैर्दिवसावधौ ॥7॥phaṇivadhūjanadattamaṇivrajajvalitahāradukūlavibhūṣitaḥ ।taṭagataiḥ pramadāśruvimiśritaiḥ samagathāḥ svajanairdivasāvadhau ॥7॥meaning
Wearing the gem-strings, the blazing pearl-necklaces and silken garments given by the serpent-women, at the day's end you joined your own people on the bank, mingled with the women's tears of joy.

At night, in darkness, the people unable to go back to the village of Vraja, slept right there at your feet's refuge; a forest-fire burned around them on every side.
- verse 9प्रबुधितानथ पालय पालयेत्युदयदार्तरवान् पशुपालकान् ।अवितुमाशु पपाथ महानलं किमिह चित्रमयं खलु ते मुखम् ॥9॥prabudhitānatha pālaya pālayētyudayadārtaravān paśupālakān ।avitumāśu papātha mahānalaṃ kimiha chitramayaṃ khalu tē mukham ॥9॥meaning
When the awakening cowherds cried 'Save, save!' in their distress — you swiftly drank up the great fire. Is this any wonder? It is your mouth indeed.
- verse 10शिखिनि वर्णत एव हि पीतता परिलसत्यधुना क्रिययाऽप्यसौ ।इति नुतः पशुपैर्मुदितैर्विभो हर हरे दुरितैःसह मे गदान् ॥10॥śikhini varṇata ēva hi pītatā parilasatyadhunā kriyayā'pyasau ।iti nutaḥ paśupairmuditairvibhō hara harē duritaiḥsaha mē gadān ॥10॥meaning
Just as the colour of the peacock is yellow, so it now is by the very deed — so the joyful cowherds praised you. Hail, Hari! Slay my diseases together with my sins.
