- verse 1एकदा दधिविमाथकारिणीं मातरं समुपसेदिवान् भवान् ।स्तन्यलोलुपतया निवारयन्नङ्कमेत्य पपिवान् पयोधरौ ॥1॥ēkadā dadhivimāthakāriṇīṃ mātaraṃ samupasēdivān bhavān ।stanyalōlupatayā nivārayannaṅkamētya papivān payōdharau ॥1॥meaning
Once, you came near your mother who was churning curds, and with a desire for milk you interrupted her by coming to her lap to drink from her breasts.

With a heart overcome by the weight of anger at the interruption of the half-drunk sweet, you took up the churning-rod and broke the curd-pot.

When your mother heard the loud crash and came running back, she saw — like the spreading of your fame — the curd spilled wide on the ground.

She found you, sought out by the Vedic path in her anger, sitting in the granary while feeding yourself with the fresh butter you had hidden in the mortar.

Seizing you as you sat with your face blooming with the radiance of fear, she quickly took up the rope before her friends to bind you.

She who wished to bind only him whom the devotees bound to themselves with love — finding all the ropes joined short by two finger-widths — saw this.

Looking at her who was exhausted, perspiring, slumped — the servants watching with smiles of wonder — O Hari, though your body is eternally free, you compassionately consented to be bound.

'Stay here a while in this mortar, you mischief-maker' — having said this and gone into the house; then in that mortar-hole you sat eating the butter you had stored there.
- verse 10यद्यपाशसुगमो विभो भवान् संयतः किमु सपाशयाऽनया ।एवमादि दिविजैरभिष्टुतो वातनाथ परिपाहि मां गदात् ॥10॥yadyapāśasugamō vibhō bhavān saṃyataḥ kimu sapāśayā'nayā ।ēvamādi divijairabhiṣṭutō vātanātha paripāhi māṃ gadāt ॥10॥meaning
[Phalashruti] O lord, though you are beyond the reach of any rope, why were you bound by this woman with her rope? — Thus praised by the gods, O lord of Guruvayur, protect me from disease.
