- verse 1त्वामेकदा गुरुमरुत्पुरनाथ वोढुंगाढाधिरूढगरिमाणमपारयन्ती ।माता निधाय शयने किमिदं बतेतिध्यायन्त्यचेष्टत गृहेषु निविष्टशङ्का ॥1॥tvāmēkadā gurumarutpuranātha vōḍhuṃgāḍhādhirūḍhagarimāṇamapārayantī ।mātā nidhāya śayanē kimidaṃ batētidhyāyantyachēṣṭata gṛhēṣu niviṣṭaśaṅkā ॥1॥meaning
Once, O lord of the wind-temple, your mother — unable to lift you who had become unbearably heavy — laid you on a couch and, anxious in the house, sat absorbed wondering 'What is this!'

Just then a great demon named Trinavarta, in the form of a whirlwind heard from afar with terrible roar, filling the directions with clouds of dust, snatched you who steal away the minds of all.

When the cowherd folk's sight was struck blind by the dense dust-darkness so they could see nothing, the mother coming to your side and not finding you wept bitterly: 'Alas, what of my child!'
- verse 4तावत् स दानववरोऽपि च दीनमूर्ति-र्भावत्कभारपरिधारणलूनवेगः ।सङ्कोचमाप तदनु क्षतपांसुघोषेघोषे व्यतायत भवज्जननीनिनादः ॥4॥tāvat sa dānavavarō'pi cha dīnamūrti-rbhāvatkabhāraparidhāraṇalūnavēgaḥ ।saṅkōchamāpa tadanu kṣatapāṃsughōṣēghōṣē vyatāyata bhavajjananīninādaḥ ॥4॥meaning
Meanwhile that king of demons too became weak in form, his speed cut by bearing your weight; he shrank, and as the dusty roar abated, your mother's wails spread through Gokul.
- verse 5रोदोपकर्णनवशादुपगम्य गेहंक्रन्दत्सु नन्दमुखगोपकुलेषु दीनः ।त्वां दानवस्त्वखिलमुक्तिकरं मुमुक्षु-स्त्वय्यप्रमुञ्चति पपात वियत्प्रदेशात् ॥5॥rōdōpakarṇanavaśādupagamya gēhaṃkrandatsu nandamukhagōpakulēṣu dīnaḥ ।tvāṃ dānavastvakhilamuktikaraṃ mumukṣu-stvayyapramuñchati papāta viyatpradēśāt ॥5॥meaning
Hearing the lament he came to the house; while the Nanda-led cowherd folk were crying, that demon — who had wished to be liberated by you, the giver of liberation to all — fell from the sky still clutching you.
- verse 6रोदाकुलास्तदनु गोपगणा बहिष्ठ-पाषाणपृष्ठभुवि देहमतिस्थविष्ठम् ।प्रैक्षन्त हन्त निपतन्तममुष्य वक्ष-स्यक्षीणमेव च भवन्तमलं हसन्तम् ॥6॥rōdākulāstadanu gōpagaṇā bahiṣṭha-pāṣāṇapṛṣṭhabhuvi dēhamatisthaviṣṭham ।praikṣanta hanta nipatantamamuṣya vakṣa-syakṣīṇamēva cha bhavantamalaṃ hasantam ॥6॥meaning
The cowherds, distressed, then saw on the rock outside the demon's huge dead body and you on his chest, unhurt and laughing freely.
- verse 7ग्रावप्रपातपरिपिष्टगरिष्ठदेह-भ्रष्टासुदुष्टदनुजोपरि धृष्टहासम् ।आघ्नानमम्बुजकरेण भवन्तमेत्यगोपा दधुर्गिरिवरादिव नीलरत्नम् ॥7॥grāvaprapātaparipiṣṭagariṣṭhadēha-bhraṣṭāsuduṣṭadanujōpari dhṛṣṭahāsam ।āghnānamambujakarēṇa bhavantamētyagōpā dadhurgirivarādiva nīlaratnam ॥7॥meaning
Atop the wicked demon whose massive body had been crushed by the rock-fall and from whom life had fled, you sat slapping him with your lotus hand and laughing boldly; the cowherds came and lifted you up like a sapphire from a great mountain.
- verse 8एकैकमाशु परिगृह्य निकामनन्द-न्नन्दादिगोपपरिरब्धविचुम्बिताङ्गम् ।आदातुकामपरिशङ्कितगोपनारी-हस्ताम्बुजप्रपतितं प्रणुमो भवन्तम् ॥8॥ēkaikamāśu parigṛhya nikāmananda-nnandādigōpaparirabdhavichumbitāṅgam ।ādātukāmapariśaṅkitagōpanārī-hastāmbujaprapatitaṃ praṇumō bhavantam ॥8॥meaning
Snatching you up one by one and embracing and kissing your limbs, Nanda and the other cowherds rejoiced; we bow to you who fell into the lotus-hand of the cowherd-women fearful even to take you up.
- verse 9भूयोऽपि किन्नु कृणुमः प्रणतार्तिहारीगोविन्द एव परिपालयतात् सुतं नः ।इत्यादि मातरपितृप्रमुखैस्तदानींसम्प्रार्थितस्त्वदवनाय विभो त्वमेव ॥9॥bhūyō'pi kinnu kṛṇumaḥ praṇatārtihārīgōvinda ēva paripālayatāt sutaṃ naḥ ।ityādi mātarapitṛpramukhaistadānīṃsamprārthitastvadavanāya vibhō tvamēva ॥9॥meaning
'What more can we do? May Govinda himself, the remover of his suppliants' grief, protect our son!' — thus your father and mother and the rest prayed to you for your protection, O all-pervading one.
- verse 10वातात्मकं दनुजमेवमयि प्रधून्वन्वातोद्भवान् मम गदान् किमु नो धुनोषि ।किं वा करोमि पुनरप्यनिलालयेशनिश्शेषरोगशमनं मुहुरर्थये त्वाम् ॥10॥vātātmakaṃ danujamēvamayi pradhūnvanvātōdbhavān mama gadān kimu nō dhunōṣi ।kiṃ vā karōmi punarapyanilālayēśaniśśēṣarōgaśamanaṃ muhurarthayē tvām ॥10॥meaning
Even so, having shaken off this wind-formed demon, why do you not also shake off the wind-born ailments in me? What else shall I do, O lord of the wind-temple — again and again I beg you for the cure of all my diseases.
