- verse 1सान्द्रानन्दतनो हरे ननु पुरा दैवासुरे सङ्गरेत्वत्कृत्ता अपि कर्मशेषवशतो ये ते न याता गतिम् ।तेषां भूतलजन्मनां दितिभुवां भारेण दूरार्दिताभूमिः प्राप विरिञ्चमाश्रितपदं देवैः पुरैवागतैः ॥1॥sāndrānandatanō harē nanu purā daivāsurē saṅgarētvatkṛttā api karmaśēṣavaśatō yē tē na yātā gatim ।tēṣāṃ bhūtalajanmanāṃ ditibhuvāṃ bhārēṇa dūrārditābhūmiḥ prāpa viriñchamāśritapadaṃ dēvaiḥ puraivāgataiḥ ॥1॥meaning
Harī, whose body is dense bliss—surely in the ancient war of gods and demons, those beings born on earth from Diti's womb, though created by you, remained bound by karma's remnant and did not reach your abode; thus the Earth, oppressed by their burden, sought refuge at Brahmā's feet and came before the gods.
- verse 2हा हा दुर्जनभूरिभारमथितां पाथोनिधौ पातुका-मेतां पालय हन्त मे विवशतां सम्पृच्छ देवानिमान् ।इत्यादिप्रचुरप्रलापविवशामालोक्य धाता महींदेवानां वदनानि वीक्ष्य परितो दध्यौ भवन्तं हरे ॥2॥hā hā durjanabhūribhāramathitāṃ pāthōnidhau pātukā-mētāṃ pālaya hanta mē vivaśatāṃ sampṛchCha dēvānimān ।ityādiprachurapralāpavivaśāmālōkya dhātā mahīṃdēvānāṃ vadanāni vīkṣya paritō dadhyau bhavantaṃ harē ॥2॥meaning
The Earth, overwhelmed and crying "Alas, alas, I am crushed by the heavy burden of wicked men—protect me, I pray, in the ocean's waters; hear my distress, O gods!"—thus pouring forth abundant laments, Brahma beheld her plight and, gazing upon the faces of the gods all around, contemplated Hari.
- verse 3ऊचे चाम्बुजभूरमूनयि सुराः सत्यं धरित्र्या वचोनन्वस्या भवतां च रक्षणविधौ दक्षो हि लक्ष्मीपतिः ।सर्वे शर्वपुरस्सरा वयमितो गत्वा पयोवारिधिंनत्वा तं स्तुमहे जवादिति ययुः साकं तवाकेतनम् ॥3॥ūchē chāmbujabhūramūnayi surāḥ satyaṃ dharitryā vachōnanvasyā bhavatāṃ cha rakṣaṇavidhau dakṣō hi lakṣmīpatiḥ ।sarvē śarvapurassarā vayamitō gatvā payōvāridhiṃnatvā taṃ stumahē javāditi yayuḥ sākaṃ tavākētanam ॥3॥meaning
The devas spoke to the lotus-born Muni with truth: "Is not Lakshmi's Lord skilled in the protection of you and us?" Then all of us, proceeding before Shiva's city to the ocean, bowed to him and praised him, saying "Swift!" and went together with your banner.
- verse 4ते मुग्धानिलशालिदुग्धजलधेस्तीरं गताः सङ्गतायावत्त्वत्पदचिन्तनैकमनसस्तावत् स पाथोजभूः ।त्वद्वाचं हृदये निशम्य सकलानानन्दयन्नूचिवा-नाख्यातः परमात्मना स्वयमहं वाक्यं तदाकर्ण्यताम् ॥4॥tē mugdhānilaśālidugdhajaladhēstīraṃ gatāḥ saṅgatāyāvattvatpadachintanaikamanasastāvat sa pāthōjabhūḥ ।tvadvāchaṃ hṛdayē niśamya sakalānānandayannūchivā-nākhyātaḥ paramātmanā svayamahaṃ vākyaṃ tadākarṇyatām ॥4॥meaning
They gathered at the shore of the ocean churned by the gentle wind and milk, and as long as their minds dwelt solely on your feet, that lotus-born one remained; hearing your words in his heart and thus delighting all beings, he was named by the Supreme Self himself—may that utterance be heard by me now.
- verse 5जाने दीनदशामहं दिविषदां भूमेश्च भीमैर्नृपै-स्तत्क्षेपाय भवामि यादवकुले सोऽहं समग्रात्मना ।देवा वृष्णिकुले भवन्तु कलया देवाङ्गनाश्चावनौमत्सेवार्थमिति त्वदीयवचनं पाथोजभूरूचिवान् ॥5॥jānē dīnadaśāmahaṃ diviṣadāṃ bhūmēścha bhīmairnṛpai-statkṣēpāya bhavāmi yādavakulē sō'haṃ samagrātmanā ।dēvā vṛṣṇikulē bhavantu kalayā dēvāṅganāśchāvanaumatsēvārthamiti tvadīyavachanaṃ pāthōjabhūrūchivān ॥5॥meaning
Knowing the plight of the lowly celestials and the earth-lord oppressed by fearsome kings, I have become present in the Yadava clan in my entirety to dispel their distress; thus the devas dwell in the Vrishni line with their divine consorts in the two worlds—all for your service, as you have spoken, O lotus-born one.
- verse 6श्रुत्वा कर्णरसायनं तव वचः सर्वेषु निर्वापित-स्वान्तेष्वीश गतेषु तावककृपापीयूषतृप्तात्मसु ।विख्याते मधुरापुरे किल भवत्सान्निध्यपुण्योत्तरेधन्यां देवकनन्दनामुदवहद्राजा स शूरात्मजः ॥6॥śrutvā karṇarasāyanaṃ tava vachaḥ sarvēṣu nirvāpita-svāntēṣvīśa gatēṣu tāvakakṛpāpīyūṣatṛptātmasu ।vikhyātē madhurāpurē kila bhavatsānnidhyapuṇyōttarēdhanyāṃ dēvakanandanāmudavahadrājā sa śūrātmajaḥ ॥6॥meaning
Having heard your words as ear-medicine, all their inner beings pacified and saturated with the nectar of your grace, King Shura's son bore the blessed Devaki's son in the renowned Mathura, sanctified by your proximity.
- verse 7उद्वाहावसितौ तदीयसहजः कंसोऽथ सम्मानय-न्नेतौ सूततया गतः पथि रथे व्योमोत्थया त्वद्गिरा ।अस्यास्त्वामतिदुष्टमष्टमसुतो हन्तेति हन्तेरितःसन्त्रासात् स तु हन्तुमन्तिकगतां तन्वीं कृपाणीमधात् ॥7॥udvāhāvasitau tadīyasahajaḥ kaṃsō'tha sammānaya-nnētau sūtatayā gataḥ pathi rathē vyōmōtthayā tvadgirā ।asyāstvāmatiduṣṭamaṣṭamasutō hantēti hantēritaḥsantrāsāt sa tu hantumantikagatāṃ tanvīṃ kṛpāṇīmadhāt ॥7॥meaning
Kamsa, born from the wedding-night union, honored them both as a charioteer upon the path with words risen from the sky; being called "slay, slay" by his own most-wicked eighth son, he in terror placed his curved sword against the slender-bodied one who had drawn near to slay.
- verse 8गृह्णानश्चिकुरेषु तां खलमतिः शौरेश्चिरं सान्त्वनै-र्नो मुञ्चन् पुनरात्मजार्पणगिरा प्रीतोऽथ यातो गृहान् ।आद्यं त्वत्सहजं तथाऽर्पितमपि स्नेहेन नाहन्नसौदुष्टानामपि देव पुष्टकरुणा दृष्टा हि धीरेकदा ॥8॥gṛhṇānaśchikurēṣu tāṃ khalamatiḥ śaurēśchiraṃ sāntvanai-rnō muñchan punarātmajārpaṇagirā prītō'tha yātō gṛhān ।ādyaṃ tvatsahajaṃ tathā'rpitamapi snēhēna nāhannasauduṣṭānāmapi dēva puṣṭakaruṇā dṛṣṭā hi dhīrēkadā ॥8॥meaning
Grasping her by the hair, the wicked-minded Shisupala long comforted her with words, yet releasing her not; then, pleased by her words of self-offering, he departed homeward—and though Your firstborn was similarly offered with affection, You did not destroy him, for Your nourishing compassion toward the wicked was seen to be steadfast once.
- verse 9तावत्त्वन्मनसैव नारदमुनिः प्रोचे स भोजेश्वरंयूयं नन्वसुराः सुराश्च यदवो जानासि किं न प्रभो ।मायावी स हरिर्भवद्वधकृते भावी सुरप्रार्थना-दित्याकर्ण्य यदूनदूधुनदसौ शौरेश्च सूनूनहन् ॥9॥tāvattvanmanasaiva nāradamuniḥ prōchē sa bhōjēśvaraṃyūyaṃ nanvasurāḥ surāścha yadavō jānāsi kiṃ na prabhō ।māyāvī sa harirbhavadvadhakṛtē bhāvī suraprārthanā-dityākarṇya yadūnadūdhunadasau śaurēścha sūnūnahan ॥9॥meaning
While Narada the sage was speaking thus in his mind to the Bhoja king, saying "You gods and Yadavas—do you not know this Lord who is the illusionist Hari, born to slay Bhava, and moved by the gods' prayers?"—Shaurisha hearing this slew the Yadus and their cattle.
- verse 10प्राप्ते सप्तमगर्भतामहिपतौ त्वत्प्रेरणान्माययानीते माधव रोहिणीं त्वमपि भोःसच्चित्सुखैकात्मकः ।देवक्या जठरं विवेशिथ विभो संस्तूयमानः सुरैःस त्वं कृष्ण विधूय रोगपटलीं भक्तिं परां देहि मे ॥10॥prāptē saptamagarbhatāmahipatau tvatprēraṇānmāyayānītē mādhava rōhiṇīṃ tvamapi bhōḥsachchitsukhaikātmakaḥ ।dēvakyā jaṭharaṃ vivēśitha vibhō saṃstūyamānaḥ suraiḥsa tvaṃ kṛṣṇa vidhūya rōgapaṭalīṃ bhaktiṃ parāṃ dēhi mē ॥10॥meaning
When the king of the earth had attained the womb's seventh month through your impulse and maya, O Madhava, you too—consciousness-bliss alone—entered Devaki's womb, praised by the gods; O Krishna, that you are, so dispel the web of afflictions and grant me supreme devotion.
