- verse 1गीर्वाणैरर्थ्यमानो दशमुखनिधनं कोसलेष्वृश्यशृङ्गेपुत्रीयामिष्टिमिष्ट्वा ददुषि दशरथक्ष्माभृते पायसाग्र्यम् ।तद्भुक्त्या तत्पुरन्ध्रीष्वपि तिसृषु समं जातगर्भासु जातोरामस्त्वं लक्ष्मणेन स्वयमथ भरतेनापि शत्रुघ्ननाम्ना ॥1॥gīrvāṇairarthyamānō daśamukhanidhanaṃ kōsalēṣvṛśyaśṛṅgēputrīyāmiṣṭimiṣṭvā daduṣi daśarathakṣmābhṛtē pāyasāgryam ।tadbhuktyā tatpurandhrīṣvapi tisṛṣu samaṃ jātagarbhāsu jātōrāmastvaṃ lakṣmaṇēna svayamatha bharatēnāpi śatrughnanāmnā ॥1॥meaning
When the gods requested you for the destruction of ten-faced Ravana, you incarnated as Rama — born of the queen Kausalya to King Dasharatha who had performed the Putrakameshti sacrifice at Rishyashringa's direction, the women of his household consuming the sacred payasa.
- verse 2कोदण्डी कौशिकस्य क्रतुवरमवितुं लक्ष्मणेनानुयातोयातोऽभूस्तातवाचा मुनिकथितमनुद्वन्द्वशान्ताध्वखेदः ।नृणां त्राणाय बाणैर्मुनिवचनबलात्ताटकां पाटयित्वालब्ध्वास्मादस्त्रजालं मुनिवनमगमो देव सिद्धाश्रमाख्यम् ॥2॥kōdaṇḍī kauśikasya kratuvaramavituṃ lakṣmaṇēnānuyātōyātō'bhūstātavāchā munikathitamanudvandvaśāntādhvakhēdaḥ ।nṛṇāṃ trāṇāya bāṇairmunivachanabalāttāṭakāṃ pāṭayitvālabdhvāsmādastrajālaṃ munivanamagamō dēva siddhāśramākhyam ॥2॥meaning
Bearing your bow, you accompanied the sage Vishvamitra with Lakshmana to protect his sacrifice; by the sage's narration you were freed from the weariness of the difficult path; to protect humans you slew Tataka with your arrows at the sage's command.
- verse 3मारीचं द्रावयित्वा मखशिरसि शरैरन्यरक्षांसि निघ्नन्कल्यां कुर्वन्नहल्यां पथि पदरजसा प्राप्य वैदेहगेहम् ।भिन्दानश्चान्द्रचूडं धनुरवनिसुतामिन्दिरामेव लब्ध्वाराज्यं प्रातिष्ठथास्त्वं त्रिभिरपि च समं भ्रातृवीरैस्सदारैः ॥3॥mārīchaṃ drāvayitvā makhaśirasi śarairanyarakṣāṃsi nighnankalyāṃ kurvannahalyāṃ pathi padarajasā prāpya vaidēhagēham ।bhindānaśchāndrachūḍaṃ dhanuravanisutāmindirāmēva labdhvārājyaṃ prātiṣṭhathāstvaṃ tribhirapi cha samaṃ bhrātṛvīraissadāraiḥ ॥3॥meaning
Having repelled Maricha, you slew the other demons at the sacrifice's end; purifying the fallen Ahalya with the dust of your feet on the path, you arrived at Videha's court and broke Shiva's bow, winning Sita.

Having transferred your radiance to Parashurama the Bhargava when that angry one arrived in the way, then going to Ayodhya and dwelling there in delight with your lovely consort — one day Bharata departed along with Shatrughna to their maternal uncle's home.

Wishing to go to the forest at your father's word, accompanied by your younger brother and his wife, bearing the bow — you stopped the citizens who blocked the road; reaching Guha's abode you became a jata-matted forest-dweller; crossing the Ganga by boat, you arrived near the sage Bharadvaja.
- verse 6श्रुत्वा पुत्रार्तिखिन्नं खलु भरतमुखात् स्वर्गयातं स्वतातंतप्तो दत्वाऽम्बु तस्मै निदधिथ भरते पादुकां मेदिनीं चअत्रिं नत्वाऽथ गत्वा वनमतिविपुलं दण्डकं चण्डकायंहत्वा दैत्यं विराधं सुगतिमकलयश्चारु भोः शारभङ्गीम् ॥6॥śrutvā putrārtikhinnaṃ khalu bharatamukhāt svargayātaṃ svatātaṃtaptō datvā'mbu tasmai nidadhitha bharatē pādukāṃ mēdinīṃ chaatriṃ natvā'tha gatvā vanamativipulaṃ daṇḍakaṃ chaṇḍakāyaṃhatvā daityaṃ virādhaṃ sugatimakalayaśchāru bhōḥ śārabhaṅgīm ॥6॥meaning
Hearing of your father's death from grief over his son and of his going to heaven from Bharata's own mouth, you were pained; having offered water to him, you gave Bharata your sandals to govern the earth; bowing to the sage Atri, then going to the forest — exceedingly difficult to enter.
- verse 7नत्वाऽगस्त्यं समस्ताशरनिकरसपत्राकृतिं तापसेभ्यःप्रत्यश्रौषीः प्रियैषी तदनु च मुनिना वैष्णवे दिव्यचापे ।ब्रह्मास्त्रे चापि दत्ते पथि पितृसुहृदं वीक्ष्य भूयो जटायुंमोदात् गोदातटान्ते परिरमसि पुरा पञ्चवट्यां वधूट्या ॥7॥natvā'gastyaṃ samastāśaranikarasapatrākṛtiṃ tāpasēbhyaḥpratyaśrauṣīḥ priyaiṣī tadanu cha muninā vaiṣṇavē divyachāpē ।brahmāstrē chāpi dattē pathi pitṛsuhṛdaṃ vīkṣya bhūyō jaṭāyuṃmōdāt gōdātaṭāntē pariramasi purā pañchavaṭyāṃ vadhūṭyā ॥7॥meaning
Bowing to Agastya, who had fashioned the entire collection of arrows with tips like the feathers of herons, you received them from the sage; then the divine bow given by Vishnu and the Brahmastra were also given; you heard the pleas of the hermits against the demons on the path.

When Shurpanakha, who had assumed an alluring form of beauty through Kama, arrived full of desire but with no shame, you sent her to Saumitri; when he cut off her nose in anger, Khara attacked and came upon you.
- verse 9सोदर्याप्रोक्तवार्ताविवशदशमुखादिष्टमारीचमाया-सारङ्ग सारसाक्ष्या स्पृहितमनुगतः प्रावधीर्बाणघातम् ।तन्मायाक्रन्दनिर्यापितभवदनुजां रावणस्तामहार्षी-त्तेनार्तोऽपि त्वमन्तः किमपि मुदमधास्तद्वधोपायलाभात् ॥9॥sōdaryāprōktavārtāvivaśadaśamukhādiṣṭamārīchamāyā-sāraṅga sārasākṣyā spṛhitamanugataḥ prāvadhīrbāṇaghātam ।tanmāyākrandaniryāpitabhavadanujāṃ rāvaṇastāmahārṣī-ttēnārtō'pi tvamantaḥ kimapi mudamadhāstadvadhōpāyalābhāt ॥9॥meaning
Pursuing the illusory golden deer desired by the lovely wide-eyed Sita, you slew it with your arrow; while Ravana, sent by the maya-cry of that deer, abducted her — your younger brother was dispatched by that deceptive cry.
- verse 10भूयस्तन्वीं विचिन्वन्नहृत दशमुखस्त्वद्वधूं मद्वधेने-त्युक्त्वा याते जटायौ दिवमथ सुहृदः प्रातनोः प्रेतकार्यम् ।गृह्णानं तं कबन्धं जघनिथ शबरीं प्रेक्ष्य पम्पातटे त्वंसम्प्राप्तो वातसूनुं भृशमुदितमनाः पाहि वातालयेश ॥10॥bhūyastanvīṃ vichinvannahṛta daśamukhastvadvadhūṃ madvadhēnē-tyuktvā yātē jaṭāyau divamatha suhṛdaḥ prātanōḥ prētakāryam ।gṛhṇānaṃ taṃ kabandhaṃ jaghanitha śabarīṃ prēkṣya pampātaṭē tvaṃsamprāptō vātasūnuṃ bhṛśamuditamanāḥ pāhi vātālayēśa ॥10॥meaning
While you searched for her, the ten-faced one had departed carrying your consort — saying 'by my death I shall repay you'; when Jatayu the vulture king went to heaven, you performed the funeral rites for that friend; then you struck down the rakshasa Kabandha.
