- verse 1अजामिलो नाम महीसुरः पुराचरन् विभो धर्मपथान् गृहाश्रमी ।गुरोर्गिरा काननमेत्य दृष्टवान्सुधृष्टशीलां कुलटां मदाकुलाम् ॥1॥ajāmilō nāma mahīsuraḥ purācharan vibhō dharmapathān gṛhāśramī ।gurōrgirā kānanamētya dṛṣṭavānsudhṛṣṭaśīlāṃ kulaṭāṃ madākulām ॥1॥meaning
A king named Ajamila, following dharma's paths in householder life as instructed by his guru, once entered the forest and beheld a woman of bold character—a courtesan intoxicated with lust.

Though inherently peaceful, his heart drawn by her, abandoning his own dharma and engaging with her, becoming a doer of adharma in the tenth descent, he again bore affection for the beloved named Bhavani as his consort.

At the hour of death, seeing the terrifying servants of Yama, he called upon his son named Narayana through the mere force of that habitual remembrance of You that dwelt within him from before.

Even from the wicked one's dwelling, your attendants—four-armed, clad in yellow robes, beautiful—emerged solely by the splendor of the syllables of your name.

Seeing him being dragged away by soldiers, the earth-goddess, unable to release him by force, was restrained by his devotees; then she confessed all his sins entirely.

Let sins exist—but how is redemption achieved when, even after atonement is performed, punishment still remains, O wise ones; is there no redemption known to ones like you—thus your servants spoke to you, O Lord.
- verse 7श्रुतिस्मृतिभ्यां विहिता व्रतादयःपुनन्ति पापं न लुनन्ति वासनाम् ।अनन्तसेवा तु निकृन्तति द्वयी-मिति प्रभो त्वत्पुरुषा बभाषिरे ॥7॥śrutismṛtibhyāṃ vihitā vratādayaḥpunanti pāpaṃ na lunanti vāsanām ।anantasēvā tu nikṛntati dvayī-miti prabhō tvatpuruṣā babhāṣirē ॥7॥meaning
Vows and disciplines prescribed by Vedas and Smritis purify sin yet do not sever desire's roots, but endless service to the infinite cuts through both—thus your eminent sages have declared, O Lord.

Through this, O Lord, even sins accumulated across millions of births are expiated, for those who, seized by fear, have grasped Your name, O Hari—thus Your servants have declared.
- verse 9नृणामबुद्ध्यापि मुकुन्दकीर्तनंदहत्यघौघान् महिमास्य तादृशः ।यथाग्निरेधांसि यथौषधं गदा -निति प्रभो त्वत्पुरुषा बभाषिरे ॥9॥nṛṇāmabuddhyāpi mukundakīrtanaṃdahatyaghaughān mahimāsya tādṛśaḥ ।yathāgnirēdhāṃsi yathauṣadhaṃ gadā -niti prabhō tvatpuruṣā babhāṣirē ॥9॥meaning
The chanting of Mukunda's glory burns away the masses of sins even without mental comprehension, such is the majesty of it—just as fire consumes fuel and medicine cures disease, O Lord, thus your attendants have declared.

When the southern attendants departed and the company of your attendants became hidden, he attained your foot by practicing remembrance of you for a time, that attendant of yours.

O Lord of the wind-mansion, protect me—You who instructed Your own servants with exultant words, telling Yama "do not approach those devoted to Your feet," though he trembled at the petition of Your servants.
