- verse 1दक्षो विरिञ्चतनयोऽथ मनोस्तनूजांलब्ध्वा प्रसूतिमिह षोडश चाप कन्याः ।धर्मे त्रयोदश ददौ पितृषु स्वधां चस्वाहां हविर्भुजि सतीं गिरिशे त्वदंशे ॥1॥dakṣō viriñchatanayō'tha manōstanūjāṃlabdhvā prasūtimiha ṣōḍaśa chāpa kanyāḥ ।dharmē trayōdaśa dadau pitṛṣu svadhāṃ chasvāhāṃ havirbhuji satīṃ giriśē tvadaṃśē ॥1॥meaning
Daksha, son of Brahma, having obtained Prasuti daughter of Manu, gave sixteen daughters to Dharma and Svadha to the ancestors.

The demon Sahasrakavacha, surrounded by a thousand armours each requiring a thousand years to pierce—you two alternated austerity and battle, shedding armours one by one.

Following the path of dharma and instructing the way of liberation, you two lived in the Badarikashrama; Indra, unable to withstand your united strength of calm and austerity.

Kama, together with Spring and Malaya Wind, kept shooting repeatedly his arrows of glances of beautiful women—seeing you unmoved.

O Kama, Spring, and celestial nymphs, be satisfied with my mind—thus speaking, you created astonishment on all sides; those praising you stood wondering.
- verse 7सम्मोहनाय मिलिता मदनादयस्तेत्वद्दासिकापरिमलैः किल मोहमापुः ।दत्तां त्वया च जगृहुस्त्रपयैव सर्व-स्वर्वासिगर्वशमनीं पुनरुर्वशीं ताम् ॥7॥sammōhanāya militā madanādayastētvaddāsikāparimalaiḥ kila mōhamāpuḥ ।dattāṃ tvayā cha jagṛhustrapayaiva sarva-svarvāsigarvaśamanīṃ punarurvaśīṃ tām ॥7॥meaning
Kama and the others who came to delude you themselves fell into delusion through the fragrance of your handmaid; they took what you gave with shame—all of them.

Indra, seeing the Apsara Urvashi and hearing your story, became greatly agitated from weighing your greatness; even such a charming incarnation.

But Daksha, blinded with great pride born of Brahma's affection, did not honour you sufficiently—and so trouble arose.

He whose sacrifice was destroyed by angry Shiva, who lost his head, who through the gods' propitiation of Shiva regained life—he fulfilled his rite again and attained peace.
