- verse 1हिरण्याक्षं तावद्वरद भवदन्वेषणपरंचरन्तं सांवर्ते पयसि निजजङ्घापरिमिते ।भवद्भक्तो गत्वा कपटपटुधीर्नारदमुनिःशनैरूचे नन्दन् दनुजमपि निन्दंस्तव बलम् ॥1॥hiraṇyākṣaṃ tāvadvarada bhavadanvēṣaṇaparaṃcharantaṃ sāṃvartē payasi nijajaṅghāparimitē ।bhavadbhaktō gatvā kapaṭapaṭudhīrnāradamuniḥśanairūchē nandan danujamapi nindaṃstava balam ॥1॥meaning
The boon-giver's devoted sage Narada, approaching the waters of Samvarta where Hiranyaksha wandered seeking you, his legs immeasurable, spoke gently to Nandan, subtly censuring even the demon through praise of your might.

That illusionist Viṣṇu carried away your earth; the Lord cried out "Alas, alas, what is this?"—thus addressed by him, the sage showed the path, and he reached you, O Sustainer of the earth, rising from the waters.
- verse 3अहो आरण्योऽयं मृग इति हसन्तं बहुतरै-र्दुरुक्तैर्विध्यन्तं दितिसुतमवज्ञाय भगवन् ।महीं दृष्ट्वा दंष्ट्राशिरसि चकितां स्वेन महसापयोधावाधाय प्रसभमुदयुङ्क्था मृधविधौ ॥3॥ahō āraṇyō'yaṃ mṛga iti hasantaṃ bahutarai-rduruktairvidhyantaṃ ditisutamavajñāya bhagavan ।mahīṃ dṛṣṭvā daṃṣṭrāśirasi chakitāṃ svēna mahasāpayōdhāvādhāya prasabhamudayuṅkthā mṛdhavidhau ॥3॥meaning
The Lord, disregarding the Daitya-son mocked and pierced by many harsh words as "mere forest deer," seeing the Earth trembling with fright upon his tusks, forcefully upheld her by the ocean and bore her forth in the manner of battle.
- verse 4गदापाणौ दैत्ये त्वमपि हि गृहीतोन्नतगदोनियुद्धेन क्रीडन् घटघटरवोद्घुष्टवियता ।रणालोकौत्सुक्यान्मिलति सुरसङ्घे द्रुतममुंनिरुन्ध्याः सन्ध्यातः प्रथममिति धात्रा जगदिषे ॥4॥gadāpāṇau daityē tvamapi hi gṛhītōnnatagadōniyuddhēna krīḍan ghaṭaghaṭaravōdghuṣṭaviyatā ।raṇālōkautsukyānmilati surasaṅghē drutamamuṃnirundhyāḥ sandhyātaḥ prathamamiti dhātrā jagadiṣē ॥4॥meaning
With mace in hand against the demon, you wielding the upraised mace in combat-play, the trembling worlds resounding with clash upon clash, the celestial hosts gathering in eagerness for battle's sight—you blocked her, O creator of the world, at the first twilight hour.
- verse 5गदोन्मर्दे तस्मिंस्तव खलु गदायां दितिभुवोगदाघाताद्भूमौ झटिति पतितायामहह! भोः ।मृदुस्मेरास्यस्त्वं दनुजकुलनिर्मूलनचणंमहाचक्रं स्मृत्वा करभुवि दधानो रुरुचिषे ॥5॥gadōnmardē tasmiṃstava khalu gadāyāṃ ditibhuvōgadāghātādbhūmau jhaṭiti patitāyāmahaha! bhōḥ ।mṛdusmērāsyastvaṃ danujakulanirmūlanachaṇaṃmahāchakraṃ smṛtvā karabhuvi dadhānō ruruchiṣē ॥5॥meaning
When your mace crushed Diti's son upon the ground with that very blow—ah! behold!—you, soft-smiling, the uprooting tool of the demon-race, remembering the great wheel, held it gleaming in your palm.
- verse 6ततः शूलं कालप्रतिमरुषि दैत्ये विसृजतित्वयि छिन्दत्येनत् करकलितचक्रप्रहरणात् ।समारुष्टो मुष्ट्या स खलु वितुदंस्त्वां समतनोत्गलन्माये मायास्त्वयि किल जगन्मोहनकरीः ॥6॥tataḥ śūlaṃ kālapratimaruṣi daityē visṛjatitvayi Chindatyēnat karakalitachakrapraharaṇāt ।samāruṣṭō muṣṭyā sa khalu vitudaṃstvāṃ samatanōtgalanmāyē māyāstvayi kila jaganmōhanakarīḥ ॥6॥meaning
Then the demon, fierce as Time itself, hurls his trident at you, yet it is shattered by the discus wielded in your hand; enraged, he strikes at you with his fist, but you, the magic that dissolves all illusion, bewitch the world through your very maya.
- verse 7भवच्चक्रज्योतिष्कणलवनिपातेन विधुतेततो मायाचक्रे विततघनरोषान्धमनसम् ।गरिष्ठाभिर्मुष्टिप्रहृतिभिरभिघ्नन्तमसुरंस्वपादाङ्गुष्ठेन श्रवणपदमूले निरवधीः ॥7॥bhavachchakrajyōtiṣkaṇalavanipātēna vidhutētatō māyāchakrē vitataghanarōṣāndhamanasam ।gariṣṭhābhirmuṣṭiprahṛtibhirabhighnantamasuraṃsvapādāṅguṣṭhēna śravaṇapadamūlē niravadhīḥ ॥7॥meaning
When the light-sparks from the wheel of existence are scattered away, and the mind is blinded by dense wrath within the circle of illusion, the asura is struck repeatedly by the forceful fists of the mighty, yet remains unhurt at the root of the ear-passage by His toe-thumb alone, without cessation.

That great-bodied one, shattered by your feet's descent, bleeding from his mouth and praised by sages for his defeat, was then worshipped by the chief munis with intense hymns, their hearts blazing with exuberant passion, as the embodiment of sacrifice.

- verse 10मुनीन्द्रैरित्यादिस्तवनमुखरैर्मोदितमनामहीयस्या मूर्त्या विमलतरकीर्त्या च विलसन् ।स्वधिष्ण्यं सम्प्राप्तः सुखरसविहारी मधुरिपोनिरुन्ध्या रोगं मे सकलमपि वातालयपते ॥10॥munīndrairityādistavanamukharairmōditamanāmahīyasyā mūrtyā vimalatarakīrtyā cha vilasan ।svadhiṣṇyaṃ samprāptaḥ sukharasavihārī madhuripōnirundhyā rōgaṃ mē sakalamapi vātālayapatē ॥10॥meaning
Gladdened by praise from the foremost sages, dwelling in the splendid and stainless glory of the mighty one's form, reaching his own celestial abode and sporting in the nectar of bliss, O Lord of the Wind's realm, destroy entirely all my diseases.
