- verse 1महिम्नः पन्थानं मदनपरिपन्थिप्रणयिनिप्रभुर्निर्णेतुं ते भवति यतमानोऽपि कतमः ।तथापि श्रीकाञ्चीविहृतिरसिके कोऽपि मनसोविपाकस्त्वत्पादस्तुतिविधिषु जल्पाकयति माम् ॥1॥mahimnaḥ panthānaṃ madanaparipanthipraṇayiniprabhurnirṇētuṃ tē bhavati yatamānō'pi katamaḥ ।tathāpi śrīkāñchīvihṛtirasikē kō'pi manasōvipākastvatpādastutividhiṣu jalpākayati mām ॥1॥meaning
Invocation: O beloved of the enemy of Manmatha (Shiva), who can fully trace the path of your glory? Even the most striving lord falls short. Yet, O you who delight in sporting in the sacred Kanchipuram, some ripening of my mind prattles on in me, goading me to compose praises of your lotus feet.

Salutation: may the lotus feet of Kamakshi, the enchantress of Kameshvara, bestow on me the nectar of liberation.
- verse 3मरालीनां यानाभ्यसनकलनामूलगुरवेदरिद्राणां त्राणव्यतिकरसुरोद्यानतरवे ।तमस्काण्डप्रौढिप्रकटनतिरस्कारपटवेजनोऽयं कामाक्ष्याश्चरणनलिनाय स्पृहयते ॥3॥marālīnāṃ yānābhyasanakalanāmūlaguravēdaridrāṇāṃ trāṇavyatikarasurōdyānataravē ।tamaskāṇḍaprauḍhiprakaṭanatiraskārapaṭavējanō'yaṃ kāmākṣyāścharaṇanalināya spṛhayatē ॥3॥meaning
Those feet which bear the weight of the universe lightly as a flower hold it — may they protect me always.

Her feet, red as the interior of a ripe bimba fruit, tread softly on the lotus in the Chidambaram shrine.
- verse 5प्रणम्रीभूतस्य प्रणयकलहत्रस्तमनसःस्मरारातेश्चूडावियति गृहमेधी हिमकरः ।ययोः सान्ध्यां कान्तिं वहति सुषमाभिश्चरणयोःतयोर्मे कामाक्ष्या हृदयमपतन्द्रं विहरताम् ॥5॥praṇamrībhūtasya praṇayakalahatrastamanasaḥsmarārātēśchūḍāviyati gṛhamēdhī himakaraḥ ।yayōḥ sāndhyāṃ kāntiṃ vahati suṣamābhiścharaṇayōḥtayōrmē kāmākṣyā hṛdayamapatandraṃ viharatām ॥5॥meaning
The great sages press their matted crowns against those feet and receive the dust as a sacred mark on their foreheads.

Her lotus feet, adorned with the ringing of ankle-bells, shine like the very dawn of liberation on the horizon.

The anklets on those feet resemble in their sound the humming of a swarm of black bees around a blue lotus.
- verse 8विरावैर्माञ्जीरैः किमपि कथयन्तीव मधुरंपुरस्तादानम्रे पुरविजयिनि स्मेरवदने ।वयस्येव प्रौढा शिथिलयति या प्रेमकलह-प्ररोहं कामाक्ष्याः चरणयुगली सा विजयते ॥8॥virāvairmāñjīraiḥ kimapi kathayantīva madhuraṃpurastādānamrē puravijayini smēravadanē ।vayasyēva prauḍhā śithilayati yā prēmakalaha-prarōhaṃ kāmākṣyāḥ charaṇayugalī sā vijayatē ॥8॥meaning
Those feet, worshipped by Brahma and Vishnu, are yet tender as a shoot — the seeming contradiction is the Goddess's wonder.

What Vedantic inquiry cannot grasp, the devotee finds at once in the touch of those holy feet upon his crown.

The polish of those feet outshines the glow of flawless rubies set in finest gold.

She who is pure consciousness walks on lotus feet that scatter their pollen-grace on those who bow before her.

Even the god of love, Manmatha, bows his flowered bow in reverence before the fragrance of those feet.

The peacock feathers of Kamakshi's feet cast their shade over the devoted heart, cooling all its passions.
- verse 14पवित्रीकुर्युर्नुः पदतलभुवः पाटलरुचःपरागास्ते पापप्रशमनधुरीणाः परशिवे ।कणं लब्धुं येषां निजशिरसि कामाक्षि विवशावलन्तो व्यातन्वन्त्यहमहमिकां माधवमुखाः ॥14॥pavitrīkuryurnuḥ padatalabhuvaḥ pāṭalaruchaḥparāgāstē pāpapraśamanadhurīṇāḥ paraśivē ।kaṇaṃ labdhuṃ yēṣāṃ nijaśirasi kāmākṣi vivaśāvalantō vyātanvantyahamahamikāṃ mādhavamukhāḥ ॥14॥meaning
Those feet are the source of the five sacred elements, yet their softness exceeds the softness of a lotus petal.

The sages who meditate on those feet find the universe dissolves and only light remains.
- verse 16सरागः सद्वेषः प्रसृमरसरोजे प्रतिदिनंनिसर्गादाक्रामन्विबुधजनमूर्धानमधिकम् ।कथङ्कारं मातः कथय पदपद्मस्तव सतांनतानां कामाक्षि प्रकटयति कैवल्यसरणिम् ॥16॥sarāgaḥ sadvēṣaḥ prasṛmarasarōjē pratidinaṃnisargādākrāmanvibudhajanamūrdhānamadhikam ।kathaṅkāraṃ mātaḥ kathaya padapadmastava satāṃnatānāṃ kāmākṣi prakaṭayati kaivalyasaraṇim ॥16॥meaning
Her feet are the very seat of Shrividya; the triangle of her footprint is the yantra of liberation.
- verse 17जपालक्ष्मीशोणो जनितपरमज्ञाननलिनी-विकासव्यासङ्गो विफलितजगज्जाड्यगरिमा ।मनःपूर्वाद्रिं मे तिलकयतु कामाक्षि तरसातमस्काण्डद्रोही तव चरणपाथोजरमणः ॥17॥japālakṣmīśōṇō janitaparamajñānanalinī-vikāsavyāsaṅgō viphalitajagajjāḍyagarimā ।manaḥpūrvādriṃ mē tilakayatu kāmākṣi tarasātamaskāṇḍadrōhī tava charaṇapāthōjaramaṇaḥ ॥17॥meaning
Even a single glimpse of those feet, says Mooka, destroys the accumulated karma of countless births.

She walks softly on the golden floor of the Kamakoti shrine, her feet leaving no print yet blessing all the ground.

Those feet are the bridge between bondage and liberation; a single step of hers crosses worlds.

The dust of those feet, say the Upanishads, is the essence of all knowledge, the final teaching of the Guru.

Brahma holds a lotus, Vishnu holds a conch — but those who hold only the thought of her feet hold everything.

The toe-rings on her feet sing of the beauty of Kanchipuram where she dwells, mistress of the three worlds.

When she playfully taps her feet in the dance, the universes are created, sustained, and dissolved in rhythm.

Those feet are the refuge of the afflicted; for him who has lost everything, they are the one remaining shelter.

The fragrance rising from her feet when they press the lotus is the very scent of liberation — incomparable.
- verse 26मनोगेहे मोहोद्भवतिमिरपूर्णे मम मुहुःदरिद्राणीकुर्वन्दिनकरसहस्राणि किरणैः ।विधत्तां कामाक्षि प्रसृमरतमोवञ्चनचणःक्षणार्धं सान्निध्यं चरणमणिदीपो जननि ते ॥26॥manōgēhē mōhōdbhavatimirapūrṇē mama muhuḥdaridrāṇīkurvandinakarasahasrāṇi kiraṇaiḥ ।vidhattāṃ kāmākṣi prasṛmaratamōvañchanachaṇaḥkṣaṇārdhaṃ sānnidhyaṃ charaṇamaṇidīpō janani tē ॥26॥meaning
Mooka says: I am mute, I am lame of understanding, yet her feet have made my tongue a river of verse.

They who worship those feet with red flowers find that all the desires of the mind become red with fulfillment.
- verse 28सदा किं सम्पर्कात्प्रकृतिकठिनैर्नाकिमुकुटैःतटैर्नीहाराद्रेरधिकमणुना योगिमनसा ।विभिन्ते सम्मोहं शिशिरयति भक्तानपि दृशाम्अदृश्यं कामाक्षि प्रकटयति ते पादयुगलम् ॥28॥sadā kiṃ samparkātprakṛtikaṭhinairnākimukuṭaiḥtaṭairnīhārādrēradhikamaṇunā yōgimanasā ।vibhintē sammōhaṃ śiśirayati bhaktānapi dṛśāmadṛśyaṃ kāmākṣi prakaṭayati tē pādayugalam ॥28॥meaning
The bees of the devotees' minds swarm to the feet of Kamakshi as to the sweetest of all flowers.
- verse 29पवित्राभ्यामम्ब प्रकृतिमृदुलाभ्यां तव शिवेपदाभ्यां कामाक्षि प्रसभमभिभूतैः सचकितैः ।प्रवालैरम्भोजैरपि च वनवासव्रतदशाःसदैवारभ्यन्ते परिचरितनानाद्विजगणैः ॥29॥pavitrābhyāmamba prakṛtimṛdulābhyāṃ tava śivēpadābhyāṃ kāmākṣi prasabhamabhibhūtaiḥ sachakitaiḥ ।pravālairambhōjairapi cha vanavāsavratadaśāḥsadaivārabhyantē paricharitanānādvijagaṇaiḥ ॥29॥meaning
Those feet are the boat that carries us across the ocean of existence whose waves are birth, old age, and death.
- verse 30चिराद्दृश्या हंसैः कथमपि सदा हंससुलभंनिरस्यन्ती जाड्यं नियतजडमध्यैकशरणम् ।अदोषव्यासङ्गा सततमपि दोषाप्तिमलिनंपयोजं कामाक्ष्याः परिहसति पादाब्जयुगली ॥30॥chirāddṛśyā haṃsaiḥ kathamapi sadā haṃsasulabhaṃnirasyantī jāḍyaṃ niyatajaḍamadhyaikaśaraṇam ।adōṣavyāsaṅgā satatamapi dōṣāptimalinaṃpayōjaṃ kāmākṣyāḥ parihasati pādābjayugalī ॥30॥meaning
One who has obtained the grace of those feet needs no other teaching, no other yoga, no other deity.

She whose feet are worshipped by the three eyes of Shiva — how great is the fortune of those who touch their dust.

When I close my eyes and meditate on nothing, it is those feet that appear — proof that they are my very self.

Even the Vedas at their summits fall silent before those feet; words reach their limit and only love continues.

The mute becomes eloquent, the lame crosses mountains, the blind sees — such is the power of those feet.

Beyond these hundred stretches an infinity of praise that no tongue can exhaust — the feet remain supreme.

Even for the dull-witted, O Mother, at the moment of remembering your feet, the roaring ocean of samsara becomes as still as a pond — such is their grace.

The swan of the breath carries its sweet sound tirelessly, yet her feet in their playful movement seem to outpace even that — bestowing the bliss of pure being at each step.

Whatever droops with even the news of slow movement, O Shiva's consort, that is your feet' natural softness, O Kamakshi — yet even the god of gods' crown is struck against them in reverence.

In the theater of my mind you move with a reddened passion, delighting the learned, your soft swaying gait graceful — reveal that dance of yours, O Kamakshi.

May your lotus feet, O Mother, which adorn Pashupati's matted hair, illumine the lotus hearts of those turned away from you, and carry us across the ocean of existence.

From contact with flowers that grew in the hair of the divine women, and from the constant fulfillment of devotees' desires, your feet, O Kamakshi, are fragrant beyond all earthly perfumes.

The great thief called Moha fears to take what has been deposited within himself — the mind-gem of his own devotees — for your redness of grace guards it perpetually.

My heart-parrot, O Mother, tired of forever tasting the sweetened morsels of sensory waves, let it be caught at last in the net of your third-eye's grace, O queen of Kailasa's lord.

Destroying by even a moment's remembrance the fever of dullness, hidden deep in the forest-hollow of the Vedas, attainable by only the rarest few — that wonder abides in your feet, O Kamakshi.

Your feet generate fame, set poetry to flowering, bestow wealth, ripen something rare in the heart, and loosen the knot of bondage in the wise — they are the source of all that is good.

Long ago the enemy of Tripura conquered Tripura with hundreds of hymns when you became pleased, O daughter of the snowy mountain — thus your feet, O Kamakshi, are the very feet of auspiciousness.

Your twin feet move slowly among the gaits, dwell in the hearts of the noble, wander at the end of speech, and are the ultimate lord of those beyond all doing — may they bring joy to all people.
