[Viniyoga] Of this Sri Maha Ganapati Mantra-Vigraha Kavacham: Shiva is the seer, Gayatri the meter, Sri Maha Ganapati the deity, the seed syllables are Om Shrim Hrim Klim Glaum Gam, and the purpose is recitation for the grace of Maha Ganapati.

[Anga-nyasa] The syllables are placed on the limbs: Om Shrim Hrim Klim to the heart; Glaum Gam Ganapataye to the head; Varavarada to the topknot; Sarvajanam me as armor; Vashamanaya to the three eyes; Svaha as weapon.

[Dhyana] May I contemplate the Vighnesha, granter of desired objects, who causes the creation, dissolution, and maintenance of the universe, holding pomegranate, mace, sugarcane bow, disc, lotus, noose, blue lotus, rice-shoot, his own tusk, gem-pot,
- verse 5इति ध्यात्वा । लं इत्यादि मानसोपचारैः सम्पूज्य कवचं पठेत् ।iti dhyātvā । laṃ ityādi mānasōpachāraiḥ sampūjya kavachaṃ paṭhēt ।meaning
[Instruction] Having thus meditated and worshipped with mental offerings beginning with 'Lam,' one should recite the kavacham.

May Omkara protect my head; may Shrim protect my forehead; may the Hrim seed guard my brow; may the Klim seed protect my pair of eyebrows.

May the Glaum seed protect my two eyes; may the Gam seed protect my nose; may the Gam seed, giver of great siddhi's fruit, guard my lotus-face.

In the east may Sri Rudra protect me with 'Shrim Hrim Klim Phat'; in the southeast may the moon-bearing one protect me always with 'Hrim Shrim Klim.'

In the south may Sri Yama protect me; in the southwest may Nirrti protect me with 'Am Hrim Krom Krom.'

In the west may Varuna protect me; in the northwest may Vayu protect me with 'Hrum Hrim Shrim.'

In the north may Kubera protect me; in the northeast may the god Sadashiva protect me with 'Hraum Hrim Jum Sah.'

May Ishvara protect me with 'Svaha' from all who have sought refuge with him; may Ganapati protect me from above always.

May Ananta protect me below; in the east and south may Ganapati and Kshetrapala protect me.
- verse 21पश्चिमे पातु मां दुर्गा ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं चण्डिका शिवा ।उत्तरे वटुकः पातु ह्रीं वं वं वटुकः शिवः ॥ 16 ॥paśchimē pātu māṃ durgā aiṃ hrīṃ klīṃ chaṇḍikā śivā ।uttarē vaṭukaḥ pātu hrīṃ vaṃ vaṃ vaṭukaḥ śivaḥ ॥ 16 ॥meaning
In the west may Durga protect me; in the north may Vatuka protect me with 'Hrim Vam Vam Vatuka Shiva.'

[Phalashruti begins] This divine kavacham is the very body of Brahmavidya; it should be kept carefully secret by one who desires his own well-being.
- verse 29जननीजारवद्गोप्या विद्यैषेत्यागमा जगुः ।अष्टम्यां च चतुर्दश्यां सङ्क्रान्तौ ग्रहणेष्वपि ॥ 24 ॥jananījāravadgōpyā vidyaiṣētyāgamā jaguḥ ।aṣṭamyāṃ cha chaturdaśyāṃ saṅkrāntau grahaṇēṣvapi ॥ 24 ॥meaning
The sacred texts declare it is to be guarded like a mother guards her lover's child; one should recite it on the eighth, fourteenth, on Sankranti, and at eclipses.

On Tuesdays the resolute one should certainly recite it — he thus enchants the entire world; a single recitation brings learning; two bring wealth.
- verse 31त्रिरावृत्या राजवश्यं तुर्यावृत्याऽखिलाः प्रजाः ।पञ्चावृत्या ग्रामवश्यं षडावृत्या च मन्त्रिणः ॥ 26 ॥trirāvṛtyā rājavaśyaṃ turyāvṛtyā'khilāḥ prajāḥ ।pañchāvṛtyā grāmavaśyaṃ ṣaḍāvṛtyā cha mantriṇaḥ ॥ 26 ॥meaning
Three recitations bring royal favor; the fourth brings all people under one's influence; five bring control over a village; six bring control over ministers.

Seven recitations bring an assembly under one's sway; eight bring the wealth of the earth; nine attract all women.

One who recites it ten times daily for six months of practice — even the deity comes under sway; how much more ordinary mortals on earth.

By a thousand recitations of this divine kavacham, a man at once has vision of the deity — of this there is no doubt.

Rising at midnight on the fourth day of a Friday, wearing red garland and garments, anointed with red sandalwood.

With a concentrated mind one should recite one hundred and one times; in a dream he sees the divine form of the deity — certainly, without doubt.

[Phalashruti] A man who without knowing this kavacham worships Ganesha, even if he recites the mantra ten million times it does not yield siddhi.

Offering eight handfuls of flowers and reciting the root mantra once — one obtains the fruit of a thousand years of worship.
- verse 39भूर्जे लिखित्वा स्वर्णस्तां गुटिकां धारयेद्यदि ।कण्ठे वा दक्षिणे बाहौ सकुर्याद्दासवज्जगत् ॥ 34 ॥bhūrjē likhitvā svarṇastāṃ guṭikāṃ dhārayēdyadi ।kaṇṭhē vā dakṣiṇē bāhau sakuryāddāsavajjagat ॥ 34 ॥meaning
If one writes it on a birch-leaf amulet and places it in a golden ball and wears it on the neck or right arm, the world serves like a slave.

This is not to be given to other teachers' disciples; it should be given only to one's own disciples; giving it to the non-devoted, even to one's sons, leads to hell.
