That power which abides first in the seed-syllable of speech, slender like the thread arising from the cucumber vine — that Kundalini power, bound in effort for the work of world-creation — we contemplate it, O giver of boons.

On suddenly seeing a startling thing and crying out 'Ai Ai!' even without the seed's vowel-point — O goddess, if by that impulse your grace arises quickly, the ambrosia of excellent speech will flow from their mouths.

Rare is the wise person who knows that your second mantra-syllable — the Sarasvata imperishable within your eternal Kamaraja — is the Sarasvata; brahmins who proclaim the story of true austerity at every joint start the recitation.

I bow with my mind to your third seed — which is seen by the wise as of proven power in the quick production of speech — moon-bright; Aurva too was accompanied by Sarasvati for the cutting of the waters of dullness — the fire of the deep.

Whatever desire is sought by whomever with whatever procedure and with whatever combination of your pure syllables individually or in sequence or in reverse — they attain that very desired thing.

Those who contemplate you — holding a book in the left, granting fearlessness on the right, with an aksha-mala — bestowing boons on devotees, brilliant as camphor and jasmine, with eyes glowing like lotus-leaves.

Those who meditate on you stationed at the crown, head drenched as if in streams of nectar, white as the pure lotus — from their mouths there flows ceaselessly the ambrosia of speech with clear vivid syllables.

Those who see even for a moment with undivided mind your form — the primordial radiance as if this earth were dipped in the lac-dye of your blazing red — their Cupid-fever-wearied languid glance finds rest.

Those who for even a moment fix their mind steadily upon you — adorned with flashing golden earrings and armlets, garlanded with the waist-chain — in their homes, playfully day after day, wealth multiplies without limit.

Those who meditate on the four-armed, three-eyed goddess wearing a half-moon-adorned matted crown, a skull-garland, clad in deep-red like the bandhuka flower, seated on a corpse — abundant high firm breasts in the center.
- verse 12जातोऽप्यल्पपरिच्छदे क्षितिभुजां सामान्यमात्रे कुलेनिःशेषावनिचक्रवर्तिपदवीं लब्ध्वा प्रतापोन्नतः ।यद्विद्याधर बृन्दवन्दितपदः श्रीवत्सराजोऽभवत्देवि त्वच्चरणाम्बुज प्रणतिजः सोऽयं प्रसादोदयः ॥ 12 ॥jātō'pyalpaparichChadē kṣitibhujāṃ sāmānyamātrē kulēniḥśēṣāvanichakravartipadavīṃ labdhvā pratāpōnnataḥ ।yadvidyādhara bṛndavanditapadaḥ śrīvatsarājō'bhavatdēvi tvachcharaṇāmbuja praṇatijaḥ sō'yaṃ prasādōdayaḥ ॥ 12 ॥meaning
Though born in a household of ordinary kings, Vatsaraja rose to the sovereignty of the entire world, his feet worshipped by the Vidyadharas — O Goddess, by your grace alone.

O Chandi, those whose hands have not come to know the thorn-points of bilva leaves torn while offering at your lotus-feet — their palms will be marked with the lotus, fish, goad, noose, chakra, vajra, and Shrivatsa signs.

Brahmins, kings, the trading class, and all others — worshipping you, O Devi Tripura, the supreme-and-non-supreme, with milk, ghee, honey, and wine in the worship ritual — whatever their steadfast minds desire, those very things become accomplished.

You are the mother of all words in this world and are called Vagvadini; from you even Keshava and Vasava clearly emerge; into you at the dissolution of a cosmic cycle even Brahma and they dissolve — you are that Tripura.

The triple group of gods, the triple fire-oblation, the triple power, the triple vowel, the triple world, the triple footstep, the triple lotus, the triple-Brahman syllables — whatever exists in the world as governed in threes.

Lakshmi in the royal court, Jaya in battle, Kshemankari on the road, Shabari amid beasts and serpents, Mahabhairavi in ghost-terror, Tripura in delusion — she is the one goddess in all forms.

Whether defective or perfect — whoever has devotion to you will recite this hymn; with the firm spontaneous awareness of one's own smallness — Kalidasa composed this auspicious praise of Tripura.
