Whatever oblation-slippage of clarified butter or of Viṣṇu — with that I smite the rival who is of evil disposition; I place him in the lap of Nirṛti; Om — earth, atmosphere, heaven; be the Agni of the sacrificer's strength; let no one silence.

You are the undaunted; may I be undaunted, may I not be struck by him — through the Agnīṣomīya offering I may be the Vṛtra-slayer, through the Indrāgni offering I may be endowed with Indra's power, with the warrior food I may become a food-eater, through Indra's.

Just as those are well-pressed soma-juices — just so are those well-done sacrifices; in the new-moon and full-moon offering, whose are the deities? Which sacrificer do the gods come to and which do they not come to? Of many sacrificers, he who grasps the deities first.

He who grasps them — they sacrifice for him the next day; the fire is indeed the worthy one by vow; vow-lord is the brahmin; the vow-bearer, intending to observe the vow, should say: 'O Agni, vow-lord, I shall observe the vow' — Agni is indeed the vow-lord of the gods; therefore.

The gods desire the one whose fire is spread; what would those gods, who come to the sacrificer the day before he sacrifices, find acceptable? One who thus knowing spreads Agni — by him are both the domestic and wild cattle enclosed.

He places the wild one in the Self; if one fasts without eating, one becomes hungry; if one eats, Rudra would harm his cattle; one does not eat water — it is neither eaten nor uneaten; he does not become hungry.

One who begins the sacrifice with faith and sacrifices — the gods have faith in him; he brings the waters — faith is indeed water; beginning with faith he sacrifices; both gods and men have faith in him for what has been sacrificed.

By this alone he brings them forward; his oblation becomes without slippage; one who thus knows; he gathers the sacred implements; the sacrifice is indeed the sacred implements; he thus gathers the sacrifice; if one were to gather each one separately — they would be father-deity.

And the sherds, the oblation-ladle, the grain-husker, the black antelope-hide, the wooden pin, the mortar, the pestle, the grinding stone and the upper stone — these are indeed the ten sacred implements; one who thus knows — from his mouth the sacrifice.

Having declared to the deities, he sacrifices with the sacrifice; the deities delight in his oblation; this is indeed the sacrifice's grasp; having grasped with the sacrifice he sacrifices; having raised the voice he restrains it; for the holding of the sacrifice; moreover the mind.

Prajāpati created the sacrifices: the Agnihotra, the Agniṣṭoma, the Paurṇamāsī, the Ukthya, the Amāvāsyā, the Atirātra; he weighed them out; as great as the Agnihotra is, so great is the Agniṣṭoma; as great as the Paurṇamāsī, so great.

He attains as much as he attains with the Atirātra; the supreme ruler's sacrifice was first — by it he reached the highest goal; by it Prajāpati.

One who thus knows and sacrifices at the new and full moon reaches the highest goal; one who sacrifices with the born sacrifice — he is born with progeny and cattle in pairs; the twelve months are the year, twelve are the pairs.

He places on fire and takes the clarified butter and the Soma-grass formula and grasps it; he encompasses the altar; he fastens the wife; he sets down the sprinkling-waters and the clarified butter — these are indeed the twelve pairs of the new-and-full-moon.

He yokes him; by the prosperous sacrifice the gods went to the celestial world; by the impoverished sacrifice the demons were defeated; 'whatever of this sacrifice may go wrong' he says — by the prosperous sacrifice he sacrifices.

He does so at the completion of the year; by these very utterances he approaches; he encompasses the year on both sides with Brahman; he who sacrifices at new and full moon and at the four-monthly — he should set down the oblations with these utterances; whatever.

The blessing of the sacrifice comes through the hymn-recitation; with the verse the blessing of the sacrifice comes; moreover the brahmin without a blessing sacrifices a barren sacrifice; intending to recite the kindling-verses, one should place these utterances before — it is Brahman that is the precedent.

The blessing comes to those sacrificers whom he wishes to prosper; for them he should place these utterances before the invitation-verse half-verse as one, before the offering-verse as one, and before the offering-verse half-verse.

May I not be seized by the mind, may I not be entered by what has come to be — mind is indeed Prajāpati's; Prajāpati is the sacrifice; the mind alone places the sacrifice in the Self; speech is Indra's, the rival-destroyeress; may Indra's power enter through speech.

Having sent up 'may it be heard,' having sent down 'let there be sacrifice,' having approached with 'let us sacrifice,' milking with the Vaṣaṭkāra — this is the milking of the truth-speech; one who thus knows; the gods held a session; their directions were falling away; those.

Through Indra's divine worship-offering may I be endowed with power; through Indrāgni's divine worship-offering may I attain the highest greatness; through Agni Sviṣṭakṛt's divine worship-offering.

We invoke Indra on your behalf, all around from among the peoples; may he be ours alone. O Indra, the men intent on pressing soma invoke you when they yoke their thoughts; the hero, smiter of men, roused in strength — he comes to the cow-pen.

O Indra, your sovereignty with the gods follows your manliness. In this one where the seven Vāsavas stand, like those who have climbed the sun — the seer Dīrghaśravas was Indra's guest. He stirred from these raw ones the ripe.

The singers sing their hymn-song; the brahmin-prayers stretched you out like a lute-string, O hundred-crafted one. Come forward with the mind, with the prayer — the supreme giver, being praised, grant us understanding. Accept this oblation, O Indra.

The relief of the harmful, the bull of the sacrifice. O Apāṃnapāt, O Aśvins — drive away from us; place heroic power in this man. O Indra, crush our enemies, press down those who attack; make underfoot the one who.
