    I take up the pressing-stone—the sacrificial craftsman for the gods—with which I press this deep, uppermost, most purifying soma, sweet with honey and milk, full of rain, for Indra the slayer of Vṛtra; the libations are wives of immortality, placed for the gods to receive here in this sacrifice—the soma is pressed; you are seized by the upayāma.

    O Soma, let your light drink in the sky, on the earth, and in the mid-space; by that light let the sacrificer obtain wide riches—O Dhiṣaṇā goddesses, you who are firm and truly firm, bestow on me vital strength; do not harm speech; do not harm me; O winds, the directions rushing toward you—may you sing out, O mother; the name of Soma that does not deceive, the ever-wakeful—to that, O Soma, svāhā to Soma.

    O Vācaspati, purify yourself, O virile one, bull of bulls, pressed by the soma stalks and purified by the filter; O divine god, you are the purifier of the gods—whose share you are, to those you are properly offered; make our refreshments sweet; for all the divine and earthly powers, O mind, pervade the mid-space; svāhā to you, to Sūrya, to the gods, to the drinkers of the sun-rays—this is your womb, for the prāṇa.

    You are seized by the upayāma, O Indra, be gladdened in the inner vessel—protect the soma, O Maghavan, grant riches and food, sacrifice; I place within you heaven and earth and the wide mid-space, together with the lower and higher gods; be exhilarated in this antarayāma, O Maghavan; you are properly offered; make our refreshments sweet; for all divine and earthly powers, O mind, pervade the mid-space; svāhā; this is your womb, for the apāna.

    Vāyu, adorn yourself, pure drinker; come to us with a thousand horses—O all-choosing one; I bring to you this honeyed, exhilarating soma; O god, you hold the first drinking of it. You are seized by the upayāma for Vāyu; these pressed somas belong to Indra and Vāyu—O drops, come with your refreshments, for they long for you. You are seized by the upayāma for Indravāyu; this is your womb—seized for both together.

You are seized by the upayāma as the leading-cup; you are the leading-cup—enliven the sacrifice, enliven the lord of the sacrifice; protect at the pressings; let Viṣṇu protect you, let the people protect you with strength; this is your womb—for all the gods.
