- verse 1श्रुतीनामुत्तरं भागं वेगवत्याश्च दक्षिणम् ।कामादधिवसन् जीयात् कश्चिदद्भुत केसरी ॥ 1 ॥śrutīnāmuttaraṃ bhāgaṃ vēgavatyāścha dakṣiṇam ।kāmādadhivasan jīyāt kaśchidadbhuta kēsarī ॥ 1 ॥meaning
May that wondrous lion-form (kesari) prevail — the Lord who resides in Kamasika, situated to the north of the Shrutis (Vedic shrines) and south of the Vegavati river.
- verse 2तपनेन्द्वग्निनयनः तापानपचिनोतु नः ।तापनीयरहस्यानां सारः कामासिका हरिः ॥ 2 ॥tapanēndvagninayanaḥ tāpānapachinōtu naḥ ।tāpanīyarahasyānāṃ sāraḥ kāmāsikā hariḥ ॥ 2 ॥meaning
May the Hari of Kamasika — whose three eyes are the sun, moon and fire — remove our afflictions. He is the very essence of the secrets of the Tapaniya Upanishad.
- verse 3आकण्ठमादिपुरुषंकण्ठीरवमुपरि कुण्ठितारातिम् ।वेगोपकण्ठसङ्गात्विमुक्तवैकुण्ठबहुमतिमुपासे ॥ 3 ॥ākaṇṭhamādipuruṣaṃkaṇṭhīravamupari kuṇṭhitārātim ।vēgōpakaṇṭhasaṅgātvimuktavaikuṇṭhabahumatimupāsē ॥ 3 ॥meaning
I worship the primordial Purusha (Adi-purusha) who bears the lion-form (Kanthi-rava), who has suppressed all enemies, who is highly revered even in Vaikunta, and who is associated with the banks of the Vega river.
- verse 4बन्धुमखिलस्य जन्तोःबन्धुरपर्यङ्कबन्धरमणीयम् ।विषमविलोचनमीडेवेगवतीपुलिनकेलिनरसिंहम् ॥ 4 ॥bandhumakhilasya jantōḥbandhuraparyaṅkabandharamaṇīyam ।viṣamavilōchanamīḍēvēgavatīpuḻinakēḻinarasiṃham ॥ 4 ॥meaning
I praise Narasimha who is the friend of all creatures, who is beautiful in the lion's couch posture (paryanka-bandha), who has an asymmetric gaze (three eyes), and who sports on the sands of the Vegavati river.
- verse 5स्वस्थानेषु मरुद्गणान् नियमयन् स्वाधीनसर्वेन्द्रियःपर्यङ्कस्थिरधारणा प्रकटितप्रत्यङ्मुखावस्थितिः ।प्रायेण प्रणिपेदुषः प्रभुरसौ योगं निजं शिक्षयन्कामानातनुतादशेषजगतां कामासिका केसरी ॥ 5 ॥svasthānēṣu marudgaṇān niyamayan svādhīnasarvēndriyaḥparyaṅkasthiradhāraṇā prakaṭitapratyaṅmukhāvasthitiḥ ।prāyēṇa praṇipēduṣaḥ prabhurasau yōgaṃ nijaṃ śikṣayankāmānātanutādaśēṣajagatāṃ kāmāsikā kēsarī ॥ 5 ॥meaning
He who controls the vital forces (maruts) in their proper seats, master of all his senses, established in the firm posture (paryanka-dharana), facing inward, teaching yoga to those who bow before him — may that Narasimha of Kamasika grant the desires of all the worlds.
- verse 6विकस्वरनखस्वरुक्षतहिरण्यवक्षःस्थली--निरर्गलविनिर्गलद्रुधिरसिन्धुसन्ध्यायिताः ।अवन्तु मदनासिकामनुजपञ्चवक्त्रस्य मांअहम्प्रथमिकामिथः प्रकटिताहवा बाहवः ॥ 6 ॥vikasvaranakhasvarukṣatahiraṇyavakṣaḥsthalī--nirargalavinirgaladrudhirasindhusandhyāyitāḥ ।avantu madanāsikāmanujapañchavaktrasya māṃahamprathamikāmithaḥ prakaṭitāhavā bāhavaḥ ॥ 6 ॥meaning
His blazing nails tore open the chest of Hiranyakashipu, from which streams of blood flowed like rivers at dusk — may those five arms of Narasimha of Kamasika, which are raised in mutual contest of glory, protect me.
- verse 7सटापटलभीषणे सरभसाट्टहासोद्भटेस्फुरत् क्रुधिपरिस्फुट भ्रुकुटिकेऽपि वक्त्रे कृते ।कृपाकपटकेसरिन् दनुजडिम्भदत्तस्तनासरोजसदृशा दृशा व्यतिविषज्य ते व्यज्यते ॥ 7 ॥saṭāpaṭalabhīṣaṇē sarabhasāṭṭahāsōdbhaṭēsphurat krudhiparisphuṭa bhrukuṭikē'pi vaktrē kṛtē ।kṛpākapaṭakēsarin danujaḍimbhadattastanāsarōjasadṛśā dṛśā vyativiṣajya tē vyajyatē ॥ 7 ॥meaning
Even as his face was fearsome with a terrifying mane, resounding with a ferocious roar, with quivering eyebrows in fury — yet the goddess who nursed the demon child cast lotus-like glances on you, O lion of mercy, revealing your compassion.
- verse 8त्वयि रक्षति रक्षकैः किमन्यै--स्त्वयि चारक्षति रक्षकैः किमन्यैः ।इति निश्चितधीः श्रयामि नित्यंनृहरे वेगवतीतटाश्रयं त्वाम् ॥ 8 ॥tvayi rakṣati rakṣakaiḥ kimanyai--stvayi chārakṣati rakṣakaiḥ kimanyaiḥ ।iti niśchitadhīḥ śrayāmi nityaṃnṛharē vēgavatītaṭāśrayaṃ tvām ॥ 8 ॥meaning
When you protect me, what need have I of other protectors? When you do not protect me, what can other protectors do? With this firm conviction, I always take refuge in you — Narasimha, who dwells on the banks of the Vegavati.
- verse 9इत्थं स्तुतः सकृदिहाष्टभिरेष पद्यैःश्रीवेङ्कटेशरचितैस्त्रिदशेन्द्रवन्द्यः ।दुर्दान्तघोरदुरितद्विरदेन्द्रभेदीकामासिकानरहरिर्वितनोतु कामान् ॥ 9 ॥itthaṃ stutaḥ sakṛdihāṣṭabhirēṣa padyaiḥśrīvēṅkaṭēśarachitaistridaśēndravandyaḥ ।durdāntaghōraduritadviradēndrabhēdīkāmāsikānaraharirvitanōtu kāmān ॥ 9 ॥meaning
Phala-shruti: Thus praised once by these eight verses composed by Sri Venkatesha, worshipped by the king of gods — may the Narasimha of Kamasika, destroyer of the fierce elephant-like sins, fulfill all desires.
