Viniyoga (ritual assignment): Of this great mantra-hymn, the Hanuman Kavacham — the seer is Vasishtha, the metre is Anushtup, the deity is Sri Hanuman; the seed syllable is Marutatmaja (Son of the Wind), the power-syllable is Anjanasunu (Son of Anjana), the pin-syllable is Vayuputra (Son of Vayu); it is recited to attain the grace of Hanuman.
