Wife, wealth, sons, grandsons and all such possessions, house and relatives—all these are born; but if the mind is fixed upon the Guru's lotus feet, then what more, what more, what more, what more is needed?

The six limbs and other Vedas dwell on the guru's lips, scriptural knowledge fashions both prose and verse excellence, yet if the mind becomes fixed upon the guru's lotus feet, then what else, what else, what else, what else is needed?

When the mind is not fixed on pleasures, yoga, horses, or kings; not on a lover's face or wealth—but rather anchored to the Guru's lotus feet—what else remains to be desired, what else, what else, what else?
- verse 8अरण्ये न वा स्वस्य गेहे न कार्येन देहे मनो वर्तते मे त्वनर्ध्ये ।मनश्चेन लग्नं गुरोरङ्घ्रिपद्मेततः किं ततः किं ततः किं ततः किम् ॥ 8 ॥araṇyē na vā svasya gēhē na kāryēna dēhē manō vartatē mē tvanardhyē ।manaśchēna lagnaṃ gurōraṅghripadmētataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kiṃ tataḥ kim ॥ 8 ॥meaning
My mind dwells neither in the forest nor in my own house nor in my duties nor in my body when fixed upon the lotus-feet of the Guru—what else then, what else, what else, what else is needed?
- verse 9गुरोरष्टकं यः पठेत्पुरायदेहीयतिर्भूपतिर्ब्रह्मचारी च गेही ।लमेद्वाच्छिताथं पदं ब्रह्मसञ्ज्ञंगुरोरुक्तवाक्ये मनो यस्य लग्नम् ॥ 9 ॥gurōraṣṭakaṃ yaḥ paṭhētpurāyadēhīyatirbhūpatirbrahmachārī cha gēhī ।lamēdvāchChitāthaṃ padaṃ brahmasañjñaṃgurōruktavākyē manō yasya lagnam ॥ 9 ॥meaning
Whoever reads this octet of the guru, whether ascetic or king, celibate or householder, attains the supreme state called Brahman if his mind is fixed upon the guru's words.
