A certain gopi, overcome by longing, speaks to her friend of Krishna's ways—so sings Jayadeva.

The poet-king Jayadeva prays: 'May no sin dwell in the age of Kali in this composition of the glories of Hari, in this rasa-filled praise, among those who serve the feet of the enemy of Madhu (Krishna).' — This is the eighth refrain verse of the chapter.

O Hari, your grace fills the heart of the singer—may the beauty of this poem devoted to you prevail.

Radha appeals to the elements in her separation: 'O southerly breeze, inflict your pain; O five-arrowed god of love, take my life — I shall never again go home. O sister of death (night), why spare me with patience? O waves, drench my limbs — let this burning of the body be quenched.' — Verse 48 of the chapter.

A vision of Krishna at dawn: 'In the early morning Krishna, wearing dark garments, with his chest draped in yellow silk stained with Radha's lac-dye, laughs freely in the circle of his companions. Radha shyly moves her restless eyes away from his face. May this Nandanandana (son of Nanda) bring joy to all the worlds.' — This verse appears in some manuscript traditions of the text.
