The lotus-fibre garland on his chest is not a serpent; the circle of blue lily petals at his throat is not poison — yet Radha's absence makes everything feel like death.

O Radha, do not string Kama's bow of the mango blossom against me; do not shoot the arrow of your glance — for you who have conquered the world with play have already defeated me.

Those delights of your touch, the roving tender glances of your loving eyes, the fragrance of your lotus-face, those soft lips — I remember all of them now in this separation.
