Radha, seeing Krishna sporting freely with other women in the forest, is wounded by jealousy and, abandoning all her usual self-restraint, wanders away alone in grief.

Krishna wanders through the forest playing his enchanting flute, his gaze moving like a restless fish, his step as graceful and slow as a royal elephant.

His cheeks glow adorned with beautiful makara-shaped earrings of jewels; he wears yellow silk and is followed by sages and men alike — ever the most charming.

He dispels the impurity of this Kali age, seated under a Kadamba tree; even now he stirs within me some indescribable longing — Jayadeva sings of this.

This supremely beautiful and enchanting description of Krishna by Jayadeva, eager devotee — remembering Krishna with this song brings purification of the heart.
- verse 12गणयति गुणग्रामं भामं भ्रमादपि नेहते वहति च परितोषं दोषं विमुञ्चति दूरतः ।युवतिषु वलस्तृष्णे कृष्णे विहारिणि मां विना पुनरपि मनो वामं कामं करोति करोमि किम् ॥ 15 ॥gaṇayati guṇagrāmaṃ bhāmaṃ bhramādapi nēhatē vahati cha paritōṣaṃ dōṣaṃ vimuñchati dūrataḥ ।yuvatiṣu valastṛṣṇē kṛṣṇē vihāriṇi māṃ vinā punarapi manō vāmaṃ kāmaṃ karōti karōmi kim ॥ 15 ॥meaning
He counts the beautiful woman's qualities as nothing, avoids her from confusion, and yet carries pleasure and fault together — this contradictory nature of love.

Radha slips into a secret bower in the night, hiding shyly, looking around with startled glances in all directions, fearing to be seen approaching the resting Krishna.

Shy at this first meeting, she pleases him with hundreds of clever and flattering words; with soft sweet speech and gentle smiles she coaxes him.

She reclines on a bed of leaves and petals beside him who has long lain only on her chest; she embraces and kisses him in lingering love.

With eyes half-closed in languor, cheeks glowing with the grace of the peacock-feather's down, her body covered with the perspiration of love's toil — she is radiant.

With the sound of the cuckoo filling the mind, conquering the strategies of Manmatha, her loosened hair adorned with wildflowers — she is Radha in love.

With anklets ringing at her feet, the bower resonant with the sounds of love, her girdle-bells sounding freely without restraint — she fills the night with music.

Languid with the pleasure of love, lotus-eyes slightly closing, her vine-like body exhausted and falling on the bed — this is Radha after love's completion.

This utterly beautiful description of Krishna's love-sport by Jayadeva pleases the longing hearts of the cowherd women — let it gladden every heart that hears it.
- verse 22हस्तस्रस्तविलासवंशमनृजुभ्रूवल्लिमद्बल्लवी-वृन्दोत्सारिदृगन्तवीक्षितमतिस्वेदार्द्रगण्डस्थलम् ।मामुद्वीक्ष्य विलक्षितं स्मितसुधामुग्धाननं कानने गोविन्दं व्रजसुन्दरीगणवृतं पश्यामि हृष्यामि च ॥ 16 ॥hastasrastavilāsavaṃśamanṛjubhrūvallimadballavī-vṛndōtsāridṛgantavīkṣitamatisvēdārdragaṇḍasthalam ।māmudvīkṣya vilakṣitaṃ smitasudhāmugdhānanaṃ kānanē gōvindaṃ vrajasundarīgaṇavṛtaṃ paśyāmi hṛṣyāmi cha ॥ 16 ॥meaning
Radha's hand lets the flute slip; her arched brow furrows; she sweats; her glance lingers at the corner of the eye — passion on the verge of dissolution.
- verse 23दुरालोकस्तोकस्तबकनवकाशोकलतिका-विकासः कासारोपवनपवनोऽपि व्यथयति ।अपि भ्राम्यद्भृङ्गीरणितरमणीया न मुकुल-प्रसूतिश्चूतानां सखि शिखरिणीयं सुखयति ॥ 17 ॥durālōkastōkastabakanavakāśōkalatikā-vikāsaḥ kāsārōpavanapavanō'pi vyathayati ।api bhrāmyadbhṛṅgīraṇitaramaṇīyā na mukula-prasūtiśchūtānāṃ sakhi śikhariṇīyaṃ sukhayati ॥ 17 ॥meaning
Even the barely visible cluster of buds on the new Ashoka vine causes pain; even the breeze near the lake-garden becomes an affliction — such is the nature of separation.
