    (Verse 1) Salutation to you, O Ganapati; you alone are the direct reality; you alone are the sole creator, sustainer, and destroyer; you alone are all this universe — verily Brahman; you are the direct eternal Self.

    (Verse 3) Protect me, protect the speaker, hearer, giver, sustainer, teacher, and disciple — protect from west, east, north, south, above, and below; protect me from all sides everywhere.

    (Verse 4) You are speech-formed; you are consciousness-formed; you are bliss-formed; you are Brahman-formed; you are existence-consciousness-bliss non-dual; you are the directly perceived Brahman; you are knowledge-formed and discernment-formed.

    sarva-ñjagadida-ntva̍ttō jā̠yatēsarva-ñjagadida-ntva̍ttasti̠ṣṭhatisarva-ñjagadida-ntvayi laya̍mēṣya̠tisarva-ñjagadida-ntvayi̍ pratyē̠titva-mbhūmirāpō-'nalō-'ni̍lō na̠bhaḥtva-ñchatvāri vā̎kpadā̠ni5

    (Verse 5) All this universe is born from you; all this universe is sustained in you; all this universe dissolves into you; all this universe returns to you; you are earth, water, fire, and wind and sky; you are the four levels of speech.

    You are beyond the three qualities, states, bodies, and times; established in the Muladhara; of the nature of the three shaktis; you are Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Indra, Agni, Vayu, Sun, and Moon — you are this entire perceptible universe.

    The Ganesha mantra is formed from Gana, the letter Va, anusvara, half-moon, and Tara-syllable — Ga is the first form, A the middle, anusvara the final, bindu the subsequent, nada the junction — this is the Ganesha-vidya.

    (Dhyana) Single-tusked, four-handed, holding noose and goad, bearing the tusk and granting boons, riding a mouse — red, large-bellied, flap-eared, robed in red, compassionate, cause of the universe — he appeared before Prakriti and Purusha.

    (Phalashruti v1) One who studies this Atharvashirsha becomes fit for Brahman-hood, is freed from all obstacles and from the five great sins; recitation in the evening destroys the day's sins and in the morning destroys the night's sins.

    (Phalashruti verse 2) One who recites it everywhere becomes free from obstacles; one who recites it facing the south obtains Shri; if one recites it a thousand times, one receives the desired fruit.

    (Phalashruti verse 3) One who anoints Ganapati with this Atharvashirsha becomes eloquent; one who fasts on Chaturthi and recites this japa becomes learned; this is the Atharvanavakya — know this as the conduct of Brahma; let him not fear at any time.
