With the great demon-king slain by the Goddess, the gods led by Indra and Agni approached Katyayani with faces brightened by the fulfilment of their desire.

You are the Vaishnavi-shakti of infinite strength; you are the seed and supreme maya of the universe; when pleased, O Devi, you become the cause of liberation on earth.

Where there are demons of fierce poison and serpents, where there are enemies and forces of robbers, where there is forest fire, where there is the mid-ocean — you stand there and protect the world.

O Vishveshvari, you protect the universe; you sustain the universe as the soul of the universe; those who bow to you with devotion, O revered by the lords of the world, become the refuge of the universe.

Again in a supremely terrible form on this earth I shall descend and slay the demons called Vaiprachitti.

As I devour those fierce Vaiprachitti demons, my teeth will become as red as pomegranate blossoms.

Then the gods in heaven and humans on earth will always praise me as Raktadantika.

Again, when I am praised by sages on the earth during a hundred-year drought with no water, I shall be born without a womb.

Then the sages will look at me with a hundred eyes; thereafter humans will call me Shatakshi.

Then I shall sustain the whole world with vegetables grown from my own body during the drought.

Then I shall become famous on earth as Shakambhari; there also I shall slay the demon named Durgama.

That name Durgadevi shall be famous as mine; again when I shall take a terrifying form on the Himalaya.
