Know Sankhya as knowledge; attain the path of surrender; the Self is eternal and all-pervading — nothing whatsoever can afflict it.

Do not be attached to fruits; perform the duty of action; one bound by action reaches the supreme — attachment to action causes one to fall.

Reflect on action, non-action, and wrong action in relation to the Self; in this world there is nothing equal to knowledge — give up egoism in this body.

Maintain equal-mindedness everywhere; be one who sees all alike, O friend; one who is not attached and does not hate — such a yogi knows yoga.

Your own mind is your friend and also your enemy — not any other creature; be disciplined in all your activities, in food and all else.

Know the eightfold prakriti as non-Self, as ignorance; the individual soul is that very Supreme Self in whom all this is strung together.

Contemplating that supreme, transcendent, all-pervading Person at the time of death, one attains the supreme; meditating on him, spend your time well.

With an offering-mind dedicated to Brahman, perform all actions with equanimity; even a leaf or fruit given with devotion is accepted by him.
- verse 11यत्र विभूति श्श्री युक्तायत्र विभूति स्सत्त्वयुतातत्र तमीशं पश्यन्तंनेर्ष्या द्वेषौ सज्जेते ॥ 10 ॥yatra vibhūti śśrī yuktāyatra vibhūti ssattvayutātatra tamīśaṃ paśyantaṃnērṣyā dvēṣau sajjētē ॥ 10 ॥meaning
Where there is Vibhuti endowed with Shri, where there is Vibhuti endowed with sattva — there see the Lord; envy and hatred do not arise.
- verse 12(अमृतवर्षिणि)कालस्तस्य महान् रूपोलोकान् सर्वान् सङ्ग्रसतिभक्त्या भगवद्रूपं तंप्रभवति लोक स्सन्द्रष्टुं ॥ 11 ॥(amṛtavarṣiṇi)kālastasya mahān rūpōlōkān sarvān saṅgrasatibhaktyā bhagavadrūpaṃ taṃprabhavati lōka ssandraṣṭuṃ ॥ 11 ॥meaning
Time in its great form swallows all the worlds; it is only through devotion that a person can behold the Lord's divine form.
- verse 13भक्ति स्तस्मिन् रतिरूपासैव हि भक्तोद्धरणचणाभावं तस्या माधायबुद्धिं तस्मि न्निवेशय ॥ 12 ॥bhakti stasmin ratirūpāsaiva hi bhaktōddharaṇachaṇābhāvaṃ tasyā mādhāyabuddhiṃ tasmi nnivēśaya ॥ 12 ॥meaning
Devotion to him is in the form of love — that alone is skilled at uplifting devotees; placing that love within him, fix your intellect upon him.
- verse 14(चारुकेशि)क्षेत्रं तद्ज्ञं जानीहिक्षेत्रे ममतां मा कुरु चआत्मानं यो जानातिआत्मनि सोयं ननु रमते ॥ 13 ॥(chārukēśi)kṣētraṃ tadjñaṃ jānīhikṣētrē mamatāṃ mā kuru chaātmānaṃ yō jānātiātmani sōyaṃ nanu ramatē ॥ 13 ॥meaning
Know the field and the knower of the field; do not feel ownership of the field; one who knows the Self is truly content in the Self.
- verse 15सात्त्विक राजस तामसिकाबन्धन हेतव अथवर्ज्यःत्रयं गुणानां योतीत-स्सैव ब्राह्मं सुखमेति ॥ 14 ॥sāttvika rājasa tāmasikābandhana hētava athavarjyaḥtrayaṃ guṇānāṃ yōtīta-ssaiva brāhmaṃ sukhamēti ॥ 14 ॥meaning
The sattvic, rajasic, and tamasic qualities are bondage-causing and therefore to be renounced; one who transcends the three gunas attains the bliss of Brahman.

Having cut down the tree of worldly existence, seek the destination the sages aim for — that which is the radiance of all radiances, known by all the Vedas.
- verse 17सृष्टि र्दैवी चासुरिकाद्विविधा प्रोक्ता लोकेस्मिन्दैवे सक्ता यान्ति परंआसुरसक्ता असुरगतिं ॥ 16 ॥sṛṣṭi rdaivī chāsurikādvividhā prōktā lōkēsmindaivē saktā yānti paraṃāsurasaktā asuragatiṃ ॥ 16 ॥meaning
Creation is of two kinds, divine and demoniac, declared in this world; those attached to the divine go to the supreme; those attached to the demoniac reach demoniac ends.
- verse 18(श्री)निष्ठा यज्ञे दाने चतपसि प्रोक्ता सदिति परासत्किल सफलं सश्रद्धंतत्किल निष्फल मश्रद्धं ॥ 17 ॥(śrī)niṣṭhā yajñē dānē chatapasi prōktā saditi parāsatkila saphalaṃ saśraddhaṃtatkila niṣphala maśraddhaṃ ॥ 17 ॥meaning
Steadfastness in sacrifice, giving, and tapas is declared as "sat," the supreme reality; what is done with faith and in truth bears fruit; what is done without faith bears none.
- verse 19धर्मान् सर्वान् त्यक्त्वा त्वंशरणं व्रज पर-मात्मानंमोक्षं प्राप्स्यसि सत्यं त्वंसन्तत सच्चिदानन्द घनं ॥ 18 ॥dharmān sarvān tyaktvā tvaṃśaraṇaṃ vraja para-mātmānaṃmōkṣaṃ prāpsyasi satyaṃ tvaṃsantata sachchidānanda ghanaṃ ॥ 18 ॥meaning
Abandoning all duties, take refuge in the Supreme Self; truly you will attain liberation — the eternal mass of being, consciousness, and bliss.
