- verse 1ॐ श्री परमात्मने नमःअथ गीता ध्यान श्लोकाःōṃ śrī paramātmanē namaḥatha gītā dhyāna ślōkāḥmeaning
1 Om, (I meditate on Devi Mahakali) Who is holding Khadga (Scymitar, Sword), Chakra (Discus), Gadaa (Club), Ishu (Arrow), Caapa (Bow), Parigha (Club), Shula (Trident, Spear), Bhushundi (Fire-Arms, Missile), Shira (Skull) and ... | ... Shankha (Conch) in Her Hands; Who has Three Eyes; Whose whole Body is covered with Ornaments, | Whom the Lord arising from Lotus (i.e. Lord Brahma) eulogized to kill demons Madhu and Kaitabha, when Lord Hari was in sleep (by the power of Yogamaya), | She has the splendour of Blue Stone (Blue Gem), and has ten Faces and Feet (signifying pervasiveness); I (worshipfully) serve that Mahakali (on Whom I meditate in my Heart).

Om — this Bhagavad Gita, revealed by Bhagavan Narayana himself to Partha, woven by the ancient sage Vyasa into the Mahabharata, this goddess pouring the immortal rain of non-duality, eighteen chapters long — may I meditate on it.

Salutation to you, O Vyasa of vast intellect, with eyes wide as a full-blown lotus — you who lit the lamp full of the oil of the Bharata and made it shine with the light of knowledge.

Salutation to Krishna — the wish-fulfilling tree of those who have surrendered, who holds the goad and whip in one hand, who displays the gesture of knowledge, and who is the milch-cow of the Gita's nectar.

I bow to Krishna, son of Vasudeva, slayer of Kamsa and Chanura, the supreme joy of Devaki, teacher of the world.

This spotless lotus of the Gita — born of the Mahabharata lake, spreading the fragrance of the Gita's meaning, with petals of many narratives, awakened by the call of Hari-katha — let it be eagerly drunk every day by the good bees of the world.

He who makes the mute speak and the lame cross mountains — at whose grace I bow: the blissful Madhava.
- verse 9शान्ताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशंविश्वाधारं गगनसदृशं मेघवर्णं शुभाङ्गम् ।लक्ष्मीकान्तं कमलनयनं योगिहृद्ध्यानगम्यंवन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्व लोकैकनाथम् ॥śāntākāraṃ bhujagaśayanaṃ padmanābhaṃ surēśaṃviśvādhāraṃ gaganasadṛśaṃ mēghavarṇaṃ śubhāṅgam ।lakṣmīkāntaṃ kamalanayanaṃ yōgihṛddhyānagamyaṃvandē viṣṇuṃ bhavabhayaharaṃ sarva lōkaikanātham ॥meaning
I bow to Vishnu of peaceful bearing, resting on the serpent, lotus-naveled, lord of the gods, support of the universe, sky-like, cloud-hued, of auspicious limbs, beloved of Lakshmi, lotus-eyed, meditated upon in the hearts of yogis.
- verse 10यं ब्रह्मावरुणेन्द्ररुद्रमरुतः स्तुन्वन्ति दिव्यैः स्तवैःवेदैः साङ्गपदक्रमोपनिषदैः गायन्ति यं सामगाः ।ध्यानावस्थित तद्गतेन मनसा पश्यन्ति यं योगिनःयस्यान्तं न विदुस्सुरासुरगणाः देवाय तस्मै नमः ॥yaṃ brahmāvaruṇēndrarudramarutaḥ stunvanti divyaiḥ stavaiḥvēdaiḥ sāṅgapadakramōpaniṣadaiḥ gāyanti yaṃ sāmagāḥ ।dhyānāvasthita tadgatēna manasā paśyanti yaṃ yōginaḥyasyāntaṃ na vidussurāsuragaṇāḥ dēvāya tasmai namaḥ ॥meaning
Him whom Brahma, Varuna, Indra, Rudra, and the Maruts praise with divine hymns, whom the Sama-singers sing with the Vedas, angas, pada, krama, and Upanishads, whom the yogis see in meditation — that immovable one, I salute.
- verse 11नारायणं नमस्कृत्य नरञ्चैव नरोत्तमम् ।देवीं सरस्वतीं व्यासं ततो जयमुदीरयेत् ॥nārāyaṇaṃ namaskṛtya narañchaiva narōttamam ।dēvīṃ sarasvatīṃ vyāsaṃ tatō jayamudīrayēt ॥meaning
Having bowed to Narayana and to Nara the highest of men, to goddess Sarasvati and to Vyasa — then let one utter victory.

Salutation to Krishna who is of the nature of Sat-Chit-Ananda, the effortless doer, knowable through Vedanta, the Guru, the witness of the intellect.
- verse 13सर्वोपनिषदो गावः दोग्धा गोपालनन्दनः ।पार्थो वत्सः सुधीर्भोक्ता दुग्धं गीतामृतं महत् ॥sarvōpaniṣadō gāvaḥ dōgdhā gōpālanandanaḥ ।pārthō vatsaḥ sudhīrbhōktā dugdhaṃ gītāmṛtaṃ mahat ॥meaning
All the Upanishads are cows, the milker is the cowherd's son, Partha is the calf, the wise drinker, and the great nectar of the Gita is the milk.
- verse 14गीताशास्त्रमिदं पुण्यं यः पठेत् प्रयतः पुमान् ।विष्णोः पदमवाप्नोति भयशोकादि वर्जितः ॥gītāśāstramidaṃ puṇyaṃ yaḥ paṭhēt prayataḥ pumān ।viṣṇōḥ padamavāpnōti bhayaśōkādi varjitaḥ ॥meaning
Phalashruti: whoever reads this holy Gita-shastra with concentration attains Vishnu's abode, free from fear and grief.
- verse 15एकं शास्त्रं देवकीपुत्रगीतं एको देवो देवकीपुत्र एव ।एको मन्त्रस्तस्य नामानि यानि कर्माप्येकं तस्य देवस्य सेवा ॥ēkaṃ śāstraṃ dēvakīputragītaṃ ēkō dēvō dēvakīputra ēva ।ēkō mantrastasya nāmāni yāni karmāpyēkaṃ tasya dēvasya sēvā ॥meaning
One scripture — the Gita sung by the son of Devaki; one God — the son of Devaki alone; one mantra — his various names; one action — service to that God alone.
