• verse 1

  अवनितलं पुनरवतीर्णा स्यात्संस्कृतगङ्गाधारा ।धीरभगीरथवंशोऽस्माकंवयं तु कृतनिर्धाराः ॥

  May the Ganga-stream of Sanskrit descend once again upon the earth; ours is the lineage of the steadfast Bhagiratha — we are the resolute ones who will bring her down.

  निपततु पण्डितहरशिरसिप्रवहतु नित्यमिदं वचसिप्रविशतु वैयाकरणमुखंपुनरपि वहताज्जनमनसिपुत्रसहस्रं समुद्धृतं स्यात्यान्तु च जन्मविकाराः ॥ 1 ॥

  nipatatu paṇḍitaharaśirasipravahatu nityamidaṃ vachasipraviśatu vaiyākaraṇamukhaṃpunarapi vahatājjanamanasiputrasahasraṃ samuddhṛtaṃ syātyāntu cha janmavikārāḥ ॥ 1 ॥

  meaning

  May this Sanskrit fall on the head of the learned Shiva, flow ever in their speech, enter the mouth of grammarians, and dwell again in the people's mind; thus a thousand sons would be uplifted and the births' distortions would depart.

  ग्रामं ग्रामं गच्छामसंस्कृतशिक्षां यच्छामसर्वेषामपि तृप्तिहितार्थंस्वक्लेशं न हि गणयेमकृते प्रयत्ने किं न लभेतएवं सन्ति विचाराः ॥ 2 ॥

  meaning

  Let us go from village to village teaching Sanskrit; for the satisfaction and welfare of all let us not count our own toil — when effort is made, what is not gained? Such are our resolves.

  या माता संस्कृतिमूलायस्या व्याप्तिस्सुविशालावाङ्मयरूपा सा भवतुलसतु चिरं सा वाङ्मालासुरवाणीं जनवाणीं कर्तुंयतामहे कृतिशूराः ॥ 3 ॥

  yā mātā saṃskṛtimūlāyasyā vyāptissuviśālāvāṅmayarūpā sā bhavatulasatu chiraṃ sā vāṅmālāsuravāṇīṃ janavāṇīṃ kartuṃyatāmahē kṛtiśūrāḥ ॥ 3 ॥

  meaning

  May the mother who is the root of culture, whose reach is vast, manifest in the form of literature; may that garland of speech long shine — let us, the brave-hearted, strive to make the language of the gods the language of the people.
